    Hi,

I can use all the vst instruments of Kontakt as plugin in Cubase 5 and everything works, however I'm unable to get a midi signal in Kontakt standalone from my midi controler. However midi works with the virtual keyboard so I can hear the sounds.

As you can see, I selected Port A for my keyboard (Impulse). I also tried with port b, c and d with no result :(

Someone have an idea what can be the problem?

It seems like you have it set up right. I don't know why that wouldn't be working. You're certain the Impulse is sending MIDI data on channel 1 and in the correct octave?

Correct octave? I don't know? What I know is that I have no problems with other synths in stand alone like Absynth5 or FM8....

When you are playing your controller do you see the keys on the Kontakt screen being played? If not you are either not sending midi to Kontakt or not playing in the octave range of the instrument.

Change octaves on your controller and see what happens.
Make sure your volume is not at zero.
Check your midi output on your controller and make sure it is set to midi channel 1.

Then let us know how you made out.

    Hi,

Thanks for your response. No there's no midi signal at all, that's why I have no sound but I don't know how to fix it.

Please reread David Das and my responses then respond back with what you did and what you found out. We can’t help anymore until those things have been checked and double-checked.

FWIW – I have been bitten by the midi channel thing. I’d set my controller for channel 2 then come back later and wonder why I’m getting no midi input on a channel 1 patch in Kontakt!

Many thanks. I was dicking around with the midi setup forever without success. Setting the PCR 800 controller to output on midi channel 1 did the trick. Also, in Kontakt/Options/MIDI/Inputs, all I needed was to set the PCR to Port A. Works fine. Thanks! Seems obvious after you do it.

    You’re welcome.

But you people really should be thanking David Das. He said the same thing in the second message of this thread!
