My Kore Player with 57 Drawbar Organ worked fine until recently but now won't receive MIDI input from my keyboard controller.
I have the keyboard connected via MIDI cable directly to a Creative Soundblaster Live! soundcard. Other music software e.g. pgmusic's Band-in-a-Box and Power Tracks works just fine, as did KP until recently. The Audio and MIDI Settings I used with KP in the past are the same ones I use for pg music programs and are the ones that don't work anymore in KP.
The Control tab in the Global Controller confirms the Settings I have made but the MIDI Activity Display shows no life when I play the keyboard.
Uninstalling and reinstalling a new download didn't solve the problem. My computer guru couldn' help either.
    Anyone have any ideas?

What's selected under MIDI in your audio/MIDI settings in Kore?

And what channel is the keyboard transmitting on? If it's not on channel 1, set t to channel 1.

And is the MIDI working with everything else?

Hi ew: If you meant have input "on" and output "off", that doesn't help.
    This is becoming exasperating.
A few other clues: This a new computer (Mar 09). I transferred the Soundblaster from the old to the new. There is a HD Realtek sound card? integral with the motherboard. I don't use it because my MIDI interface is via direct connection to the SB. The strange thing is that if I select Realtek as an Output, that's Output, I can get MIDI Activity response on the KP Controller, but still no sound.

Can there be a conflict between the two sound devices?
To confuse the issue further: The same problem of No MIDI Input occurs in Kontakt Player. I can open the Factory Selection library, select an Instrument into the Rack and that's it. Can't go any further.

I suspect the cause is something that should be obvious, but it escapes me, that's for sure.
Thanks,ew. I really appreciate your attempts to help!

There definitely could be. SBs are known for not playing fair with onboard sound. Try disabling your Realtek in your BIOS or device manager.

That's not the problem. I disabled the Realtek, but it made no difference. I may as well leave it disabled as I don't use it anyway.
While in the Device pages I noticed an entry about codecs. i know nothing about them other than what the are. Any clues there? Cheers.

    Hi ew:
An update: Yesterday I installed a MIDI- to- USB adaptor, confident that by isolating the Soundblaster I would get MIDI input to the NI programs. No such luck! Everything remais as befote. My confidence in the SB and the MIDI cable interface is restored.
I am more and more convinced that the problem exists within the Kore and Kontakt Player programs, but it defies logic that two programs would have the same error. I'm almost ready to throw in the towel. You?

If that were the case, I'd think you'd see a lot more reports.
Could you post a screenshot of your MIDI settings?

Hit the manage attachments button; a window will open allowing you to browse and upload. The valid file extensions for images are listed above the button. However, images have to be <100k in size.

Ctrl/print screen to take a screenshot. Ctrl/V to paste it into your graphics editor; if you don't have one, IrfanView's good and free:

    http://www.irfanview.com/

Crop, etc. and save it as a ,jpg; you need to be under 100 K in size.

    Sorry again,ew. I can't figure this out.
Anyway, the screenshots would show one choice only for MIDI input:
    SB Live! MIDI UART
And six choices for MIDI output:
A:SB Live MIDI Synth (which I normally select for all my work (play)
    B:SB Live MIDI Synth
    SB Live Soft Synth
    SB Live MIDI UART
    Roland VSC
    Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Stnth

Is it working with the other KP content other than the organ?

Nope. The Kore Player bank of sounds are mute, as are the Compilation bank sounds and also the Kontakt Factory Selection bank sounds No MIDI input an any.
On the other hand, Band-in-a-Box remains just fine.
    Perplexing, eh?
