Hello - I recently purchased the X1 and Z1, and I thought the provided power supply for the Z1 would at least let me take some strain off of the USB hub, however it appears as if USB power overrides it? I'm not really sure what the point of the power adapter is, if that's the case because in the meantime, it seems the only way to power OFF the Z1 is to physically UNPLUG the USB port each time. Such action adds a lot of strain the USB port from either end - does anyone have a different way of powering down these units?

    Thanks

I wouldn't worry too much about plugging/unplugging. There's plenty of people using N.I. controllers for live gigs, & unless their controllers are pre-wired in a flightcase, they're unplugging every time they play.

I have a Z2, & an X1 & they're absolutely fine after a couple of years of use on gigs. ....probably best to pull straight out though, & avoid any sort of twisting.
