I just bought a new iMac with OS High Sierra ( OS 10.13). Downloaded the new version on Kontakt 5.7.1 through Native access installer. The problem is that I can't find any option to download my libraries and my third party libraries. They're usually located in my 'shared folder', but in this new version on Kontakt the only option I see in Libraries is 'Manage Libraries' which takes me to Native Access. (I'm used to the older version on Kontakt where there was an option to 'Add Library'

I tried to go into 'Files' on the top left corner of Kontakt to select my workspace, but once again no option to go into 'Shared folder'!!

Someone please help! some on the 3rd party software do not use 'Native Access' serial option...

    Thanks

Correct, now Native Access manages Kontakt Player libraries.

You should be able to navigate to your Shared folder though (AFAIK).

Thanks for the answer but the way NI has it doesn't make much sense! Some of the 3rd party libraries don't even have serial numbers. I also have the whole Komplete Library from my other computer and used and external drive to transfer them here. But with this new "Native Access" it seems like I have to re-download everything again, with could take days!! Is there a way for Kontakt to just see my library and import the libraries in there (such as Alicia keys, 60s drummer, etc...)

For. some reason I still can't get access to the 'Share Folder' in my workspace. I can only access my desktop and my documents and the external drives!!

Libraries that don't have serial numbers are not managed by Native Instruments. They are simply loaded into the full version of Kontakt directly.

Yes, libraries that don't have serial numbers are NOT supposed to be in the Libraries tab, at all. Use Quickload or Files browser instead.

Downgrade to K5.6.6 and add libraries there, then upgrade back to 5.7.1. Keep the standalone executable of 5.6.6 around for any such library adds.

I just bought a couple of SoundIron Iron Pack libraries. This would be the reason I cannot get them to show up in the Library Browser? So, the correct way to open them would be to direction open up the .NKI file from the "Files" portion of Kontakt?

Thank you. It does seem odd that NI removed that ability to add anything to the library.

I am new, however, to both Kontakt and NI.

NI didn't remove that possibility, it depends if the library is licensed/encoded for the free Kontakt Player or not. Only KP libraries are legitimately allowed in Libraries tab. All other non-KP libraries need to be browsed to like regular files. That's how it is with Kontakt.

I see, my lack of knowledge is showing. So, if a product says it will only work in the full version of Kontakt, it would be possible for it to show up in the library, but those products that only require the free version of Kontakt must be browsed to directly?

No, it's the other way around.

Quickload is your friend. I have my Quickload instruments sorted in sections, much like folders and sub folders. Wind instruments, orchestra, keyboards (pianos and mallet instruments), and synths are a few of them. For example under wind I have different trumpets, saxes, etc from many different companies. It is very easy to use IF you organize it from the start into sections like I did.

    YMMV

Can we identify the type of library by looking at the available files of a library? I'm really puzzled how to add free and non-free kontakt libraries the correct way.
None of them show up in the "instruments" page in maschine be it in user or non-user filter view.
Sometimes I read I'd have to add the library by adding it through the preferences/library/user menu. Sometimes I'm also asked to set a user library alias EXACTLY the same as written in a manual. I don't understand all of this why I have to do it and why still none of my libraries show up in maschine.
Is there maybe a general overview of how all this stuff is supposed to work? I'm a software engineer and thus well-versed with how computers work but this is just one of a kind crazy software I can't wrap my head around for some reason ....

Yes, Kontakt Player libraries come with .nicnt file that is named the same as the library, and its samples are packed into .nkx monoliths. Non-KP libraries are not like that.

I'm not sure if that is what Musmus was saying, but I just found how to add my libraries via Kontakt>Options (Gear Wheel in top right)>Libraries.
Check the library you want to add.

This might work for libs that have a serial and can be installed via Native Access. Any other library can't be added for whatever reason that is totally beyond me. Since this and other annoying things about Maschine and KK I decided to develop a software that enables me to use any library the same way without any hassle. I'm still working on it, but I have all things that need to be done. It's just a lot of work to make sense out of all of this and pour it into a user-friendly application. Just need more spare time to finish it and then finally make music again which is what I wanted to do in the first place when I bought into NI's hardware.... oh well

5.6.6 is the last version that will be downloadable from that page, everything else from this point forward will be served through NA.

Thanks for your reply. Can you advise how to install my old K10 players then please?
