    Hello ...

FAO Stefan/Thomas etc in Native Instruments Support
I am having two problems getting Vintage Organs to work properly with Kontact4.4.1.3 or Kontact4.4.2.2..

    A. My setup

PC: --- Core 2 Quad, 16Gbyte RAM, Windows Vista Ultimate x64.
S/W: - Kontakt 4 4.1.3 as a replacement for Kontakt 4.4.2.2 on your recent advice
------ Vintage Organs, with licence. Setup as described under Problem 2 below.
------ Problem 1 see explanation below.
MIDI: 2 x MIDI keyboard manuals, MIDI CH 1, MIDI CH 2.
------ Both keyboard manuals are working perfectly.
    ------ 1 x MIDI pedalboard, MIDI CH 4.
------ Problem 2 see explanation below.

    B. Problem 1

This not the most serious problem, but I list it first.
When I load Tonewheel Organ B3.nki with the default patch in Kontakt4 4.1.3 it reports:
----- "Kontakt 4: The patch could not be loaded - Unknown Error"
The other patches of the B3 and the other organs load without this error.
Please note that the B3 patch cannot be corrupt because it loaded into Kontakt4 4.2.2 without the load error (although Problem 2 described below is present).
Can you advise on Problem 1 please.

    C. Problem 2

This problem is that the bass pedalboard will not produce any sound. This was reported before with Kontakt4 4.2.2 but you incorrectly ascribed the error to Kontakt4 4.2.2, but it also exists under Kontakt4 4.1.3.

The important points for you to note are:
    - my MIDI inputs are correctly setup in 'Options' as CH 1, 2, and 4
    - MIDI input in Kontakt is set to 'Omni' to allow all MIDI channels in
    - Organ MODE is set to 'MIDI Split' so that the pedalboard has its own channel;
    - Organ MIDI inputs are correctly setup in 'Settings' with lower=2, upper=1 and
    pedal=4
    - the Pedal Organ drawbars are both drawn.
Note that the MIDI indicator flashes when the pedals are played, but there is no sound.
Note also that the virtual keyboard shows the correct notes being played on the pedalboard but there is no sound.
Note that when the Organ MODE selector is NOT set to MIDI Split the pedalboard does produce sound, but I wish to use the Pedalboard with its own MIDI channel and its independent drawbars, not those of the lower manual.
Even if I feed a keybaord manual MIDI channel to the pedal I get no sound.

It seems to me that the Pedal section of Vintage Organs does not work in Kontakt4 4.1.3 nor in Kontakt4 4.2.2, as I am quite unable to get sound out of the Pedal Drawbars via MIDI.

I have been trying for many days to get Vintage Organs working with 2 manuals and a pedalboard, but something is plainly wrong and I do not believe it is me, as I am very familiar with MIDI organs, and all of my hardware works with organ software such as Hauptwerk, and other DAWs.

You early assistance will be appreciated. If you need to speak to me, my telephone number in the UK is (+44) 01225 707161.

    Regards

    midi controller learn vintage organs?

The midi controller learn function was straightforward in B4II. Where is the midi controller learn function within NI's Vintage organs. THIS IS DRIVING ME NUTS! I want to assign/learn drawbars to my controller keyboard.

    Hi Kenneth,

regarding your bass pedalboard, please make sure that all MIDI keyboards which are used to play Vintage Organs are set to Port A in Kontakt's MIDI Options, this will solve the problem.

Vintage Organs used in Kontakt's stand alone version with different MIDI channels currently only supports the first port, i.e. Port A.

Unfortunately this information didn't make it into the manual, we're sorry for that.

    best,
    nicki

You should be able to right-click the drawbars and MIDI learn them.

Thanks for the reply. In fact I had a useful and successful telephone support session with Stefan this morning and the outcome was as descreibed, namely that Vintage Organs cannot use any MIDI ports other than Port A, notwithstanding the fact that the Options setting for MIDI invites you to choose any of several MIDI ports. This is acknowledged as a software fault asnd we hope it will be corrected soon.

    Thanks for the reply.

In fact I had a useful telephone support session with Stefan this morning, and the outcome was as described, namely that Vintage Organs will pick up MIDI from Port A only, notwithstanding the fact that the Options -> MIDI setup invites a choice of several MIDI Ports.

This is acknowledged a s bug as Vintage Organs is not working as intended, although it will work with a single MIDi Port (A).

It is hoped that the error will be corrected in due course.

    Regards

    Ken.
