I've tried every every method, online, offline with this service center thing, but it always comes back with:

No qualifying base product is registered

It's like I can't register Komplete 5. Since I can't register, I can't activate, right? It's all installed fine. Why isn't there a simple webpage where you can log in and register your new software?

I've read every FAQ and help file on registration, activation and Service Center. No joy.

2 messages in to NI support. I hope I hear something. This is goofy. It shouldn't be this hard to just be a customer!

Any other Mac users having this same problem? I see on these forums plenty of PC issues in this regard. What is up with this?

Are you positive the Komplete 5 product you are attempting to register/authorize is a FULL RETAIL version?

One would expect that message if you had an Update or Upgrade version. Did a retailer ship you an upgrade version instead of a Full Retail version?

What did your registration card specifically say ( the one with the Serial number on it)?

Hi Martin. This sure looks like the full deal. I bought it via the NI Online shop. Actually I ordered Komplete 4 during the summer sale which wasn't a bad price because I had Kontakt2 and Absynth4 already. Then they said they were out of stock but for another hundred bucks I could have Komplete5.

I didn't think they shipped upgrade versions for this situation and there's certainly no indication that's what this is. You've got a good point though as that's how it's acting.

I have the same error message for Guitar Rig 3. I have Komplete 4 and bought the upgrade to Guitar Rig 3 but I haven't been able to use it. I also bought the Kontakt 3 upgrade and it activated without a problem.

What does the Komplete 5 box state?

For example, my Komplete 5 box states:
-- UPDATE version (on front of box in yellow)
-- Komplete 5 COM UPD on box UPC Code

As I understand it, although the software on the Komplete versions is identical, the types of versions (update, upgrade, NFR, Academic) can be differentiated by their Serial Numbers (i.e. NI uses different sets of serial numbers for the different versions of Komplete).

I would suggest contacting NI Registration Suppport, provide them with your Serial Number and ask them "is this a Full Retail serial number"?

There are only a few possible explanations for your problem:
    1. NI shipped you a Komplete 5 update or upgrade package
    2. NI shipped you a Komplete 5 retail package but inserted a "non full retail" Serial Number card
    3. There is something wrong with the NI Registration database (like they entered or classified the Serial numbers wrong).

Let us know what you find out -- I am curious.

    Hi Ajay,

I am glad I am not the only one! The exact same is true for me (only that I haven´t yet tried to install the Kontakt 3 upgrade yet after the Guitar Rig 3 upgrade was such a disaster!)

I also have Komplete 4 (+ Massive), Guitar Rig 3 Upgrade and Kontakt 3 Upgrade.

I get the same error message: "no qualifying base product registered."
but it is registered. Also randomly get messages that Pro-53 is not registered, but that`s a different issue.

    I have a Powermac G5 (OS X 10.4.9.) and a Macbook (OS x 10.4.10)
On both I have very similar problems.

Can`t reach anybody at registration support.
I guess I could have spent my money better elsewhere!

Hey Martin. I just received an email responding to my registration problem. On a Sunday, I'm impressed! Indeed on the outside of the box, the barcode says KOMPLETE 5 COM UPG.

So I reckon you're right and I was sent the wrong version. I just responded with all my order details. This is where I'm glad I used the online NI Shop! This could have been a bit more hassle and delay if it had come from some odd retailer. Ya'know, proving what I ordered and all.

I just ordered Kore from Sweetwater. Hope that goes OK! I'm confident NI will straighten this out quickly now. I'll let you know how it turns out.

    Hi Sebus

Yes it looks like we have the same issue. I'm using a G5 Power Mac +10.4.10. From my experience, go ahead with Kontakt 3. I was planning on using Guitar Rig 3 on a Macbook Pro as well, but after this, I'll keep version 2 on that one - at least for the time being.

NI did reply to my ticket and said they'd put my Guitar Rig serial into my account and that this'd solve the problem - but alas, it didn't ...

Well, early this morning I received an email with a new serial number and I'm up and running. Kudos to NI for this and getting me up and running expediently. There must have been a mistake and I got shipped the wrong version.

So, a bit of renewed faith.

Wow - I'm impressed that NI are solving all of your problems.

For some reason, they've left me languishing for 1 1/2 weeks now with the same error - No Qualifying Base Product Installed. I've never dealt with a worse company. I even wrote to the CEO and he said if my problems weren't solved to open a ticket. You know, he should have had someone check if there was one open for me already, and then look into it. That would have been diligent, and appropriate customer service, and it might give them some additional insight as to why all the problems in activation. But I was brushed off as so many others are. Back to the end of the line.

COME ON NI! WILL YOU PLEASE LOOK AT MY TICKET?

    They`ve got it fixed now!

    Hi,

it seems that NI have come up with a solution. Just ran the Service Center again and Guitar Rig 3 was activated.

This morning they told me on the phone that they were already working on it.

    Thank you NI.

NI finally solved my issues, but there remains a question of an upgrade path from NI Essentials. I'll start a new thread here on this topic.
