    Hi

Does anyone know how to detect noise from an input. Basically I want to detect the amount of zero crossing there are, then if there is more than a threshold I want control a gate.

I know in MSP there is an object called zerox~, I guess I'm looking for something similar?

    Thanks for any advice.

do you mean an audio (noise) gate, where the threshold can be set? and above a certain level the sound is cut off?

type Audio Gate in the search in the user library. you will get a few choices to look at.

No I don't want an audio gate. Sorry perhaps I should have worded my previous post differently.

I want to somehow detect to see if an incoming signal has a high noise content, i.e consonants from speech samples.

I haven't used it myself yet, but I believe the Frequency Divider module counts zero crossings.
