1. We're currently conducting systematic tests with the release version of macOS 11 (Big Sur) in order to offer full compatibility of our products as soon as possible. You can find our latest compatibility status - here

Please note that although announced at the same time as macOS Big Sur, Apple Silicon processors are an independent release with separate compatibility concerns for NI products. Compatibility with macOS Big Sur will not yet ensure compatibility with Apple Silicon processors. Hi all

Over the weekend i realised that i can nomore select the instrument categories while browsing the browser ;-)

It only shows "All..." or "Other"....before there has been drums & percussion, synthesizers, sampled instruments and so on. whats up? is it only on my side or does anyone of you "suffer" from this too?

and yes: i know my mk3 needs to get cleaned...:)

i see still instrument categories; 3 (drums/sampled/synths). on windows 7. with the latest firmware and maschine 2.8.3.

state your OS (mac/windows), perhaps it is OS depended. if you are on mac i know nothing. but still in this case, it is strange, if you have windows.
    can be many factors?

maybe i just need to rescan my whole library. i've not done that since i updated to K12UCE. i just realised this now....maybe thats the reason for this "behaviour"...

and no, i am on windows10 too...

a rescan is most of the time the advice. does not work always. but since you updated, i hope it works.

I think I noticed that same thing the other day. I haven't checked it since. I'll have to double check it, but I'm on win 10 with the latest updates.

I forgot to check it when I fired up the computer last time. If I remember correctly it was only from the hardware, and you could still change it from the computer.

a little update on this issue (for me): not even a complete rescan of the whole library solved this.
do i have just to live with the fact that i have to scroll throu all instruments/synthesziser/drumsamplers etc. in my Komplete 12UCE even if i know that i only want to have "sampled instruments" for example?...

whats with the other guys with an mk3: does it show categories for you or not?

I haven't had time to really check it, but I'll jump on it now for a little bit to check it now. I will edit and update this post when I've done it.

Edit: It's fine on the hardware and software side. The last time I couldn't change it from the software side, but I don't think I checked hardware. That may have been when I first updated it without rebooting it the first time. You may have to try and give some more details that may help us to help you.

thank you guys. i allways run the latest software of whatever software i use.

you don't have to investigate on it further for me personally - my whole system got "stolen" from the police (because they think i am an internet criminal because (so i guess) my wifi/router got abused (by friends?) for illegal activity...i had a "friendly" visit from the police at 05.00 AM the day before....like you all may know from "tv series"...((((shock of my life))))

so i have no more mobile phone, no more computers - and - no more possibility to use my newly acquired MK3, Jam, K12UCE... :-( :-( :-(

in short: you could say "my life got a huge bug due to this "police-update".....- so the missing "categorization" of sounds on my mk3 is really the smallest of problems i have now...

this all means: i've got the "chance" now to buy a new notebook and set it up all again....

for categories reset it's easy, just go to location "C:\Users\Public\Documents\NI Resources" (for windows) and delete all data, if you have only NI instruments if not then cut everything from location and paste somewhere else, then remove all from "C:\Users\(YOUR USER NAME)\AppData\Local\Native Instruments\Maschine 2" and run maschine and scan everything from scratch, your categories will be back on place. If you don't see images from your instruments just copy and replace old files from "C:\Users\Public\Documents\NI Resources" that you move from this folder before erase.

Clean win 10pro installation and clean NI install.
    Up to date.
Edit: no firm update for M MK3 or A-keyboard.

Wow... Are you serious? Oh man, that sucks.
I remember reading about loose laws in Switzerland a few years ago related to piracy and the US pressuring them to change their policies.
Hopefully, you just had an easy/default password and people just used your wifi to download movies and whatnot, it ussually takes a lot for repercussions to happen though... if you dont have a bunch of piracy on your HD's you should be fine, if you do it might get tricky, I saw that happen with a couple of friends and they got away with community service.

yes D-One, i am completely serious. and the "illegal activities" here are not just downloading stuff (which can't be fined here in switzerland :) ) but "my case" is about illegal porn. and that is a serious crime i am "confronted with"...

well, atm what bothers me most is that my newly setup system will be "at the police" for months. wether i get "fined" at the end or not....

i am trying to "find" some money to buy a new (and better) notebook. had an i5 before but want to switch to something more powerfull, as the new massive x allmost killed my old processor :)
