My TSP2 had an issue last night on my first track which caused me to have to abandon it and use my CDs.

During my first track, around 20 seconds in, it randomly started playing in reverse, and did so right back to the beginning... by which time I was able to get the other CDJ cued up with a normal cd, and carry on.

    My setup :

    Macbook Pro 15inch 2010 2.4ghz / 4GB ram
Traktor Scratch Pro 2 (latest updates)
    Audio 8
Using downloaded updated timecode WAVs burnt to cd.

The club setup was 2 x CDJ 900s and DJM 700.

Due to the nature of the night, I had to set up just before I was going on, and did so with the left CDJ by removing the rca from the back of the cdj, and putting it directly into the audio 8, then running another rca from the audio 8 back into the CDJ line.

I was able to cue my track up fine, and was able to start fine. Once started, I was repeating the setup process for the right CDJ, when the song playing on the left started playing in reverse on its own.

Any ideas as to why this may be? Make me nervous using it in a club :/

What did the scopes look like? Sounds like a channel dropped out with the RCAs reversed
    ---
Did you do a calibration before playing?

I clicked 'calibrate' yes... the scope looked ok, definitely circle, no unsual shapes...

could this be down to a dodgy RCA? Thats the only thing I can think of at the moment?

Track running backwards means RCAs were plugged opposite, i.e. red-white and white-red. When you plug the cdj you should 100% be sure they're plugged red-red and white-white.

However, if the track was playing fine and it suddenly started going backwards i think of only two things:

    - the REVERSE button of the CDJ 900 was turned on.
    - defected RCA

If you're able before every gig, do soundcheck. It gives your confidence and peace :)

happened again this weekend just gone...

    same thing

I can rule out the RCAs as they were brand new, and not cheap ones
the updated traktor timecode cds (burnt at the slowest speed)
    Manually calibrate
    both decks
played for roughly 10 seconds before instantly playing in reverse back to the start

    same setup as above aswell

Starting to get seriously pissed off with this now!

this has happened to me several times using CDJ2000s w/ timecode on sticks and an Audio 10 - it is def not the RCA connection, as it was fixed by reloading the track into the deck

This happened to me a few times (once or twice) as well, also with CD time code (v1 on a CDR) and with CDJ2000s - it was a long time ago and I don't know how I fixed it, I think I just played the next song on the other player and then the first player worked fine again (after pressing cue).
Besides, 2000s and 900s would be much better with Advanced HID, just if NI finally supported it...

yeh this has only happened like once or twice to me, but basically all i did was flick the reverse button on my CDJ then the track started playing forwards, i then dropped a new track onto the deck that was originally playing backwards, then the new track started playing in reverse, switched the reverse switch on my cdj and everything back to normal!

Happens every day for me. But its not as bad after I updated to 2.0.3 thou. I have Mixvibes and serato as well and this problem does not accure there.
There are multiple threads about this problem here on the board.
    Whats up with this?

This used to happen on my 1000s.

    1) Usually turning timecode off then back on from the deck worked to fix it

    2) Try another channel on the Audio 8. Don't forget about 5|6 and 7|8!

    3) Do a search...see what has helped other people too

Hmmmmmm, when you use your 1210s at home you're at Timecode Vinyl, right?
Aaaand when you go to the CDJs, do you switch it to Timecode CD / Line?

Yeah I make sure I swtich the media setting to timecode cd / line so its not that either.

Funny thing is, when using 1210s at home or at a club, I have never had any problems of this scale.

Ill try again this weekend, different venue so will probably be using cdj1000s rather than 900s so Ill see how it goes
