Please can someone help with same issiue??? On my internal SSD I have 130GB free space. In Native Access I did change settings for download folder to my external HDD with 1.5TB, and seperate HDD for installation with 200GB free and it still says that I need extra 30-40GB!!! I tried everything and nothing works. Still same message. How am I supposed to install Complete 13 Collectors Edition. Files of the instruments are about 30GB - even if there is 3x space neeed I do have it so what the hell is going on? I did restart my Mac after making some space, and once more after changing settings in NA. It's 2021 and still this is not fixed? And of course I'm trying to install instruments not all at once but one after another. Help.

I found this on another forum but it worked perfectly for me :)

This is a "purgeable space" issue. I really don't fully understand why it's so hard to get rid of purgeable space. Most of it comes from local snapshots from Time Machine backups I think.

You can delete your local snapshots using Terminal.

Open the terminal and copy and paste the following command:

    Code:
    tmutil listlocalsnapshotdates / |grep 20|while read f; do tmutil deletelocalsnapshots $f; done

Wait until it's done deleting the local snapshots. Restart your computer and it will create a new local snapshot. These snapshots get taken when you have large files around and then delete them so they eat up all your available space.

    Hola nativos musicales :)

    ¡Seguiremos avanzando!

Thx for that. Something unexpected happened that only shows how Apple's operating system, or NI Native Access are rubbish. Without doing anything else and in act of desperation I installed one of the expansions as they are small in size. The installation did go through. Just after that I clicked on one of the big libraries and - surprise surprise - the big library started downloading and installed without screaming for more space. Like the installation of smaller library fixed something! I managed to install everything that I could - obviously I need a bigger drive for everything. So after trying everything that has beed suggested in this discussion, and couple of others, and nothing worked for me - the problem solved itself. Really strange behaviour.

Right clicked my local "Macintosh HD" which reported 120GB free space. However, Disk Utility only showed 19GB free space. Used the terminal command suggested by DavidRoddie. I checked Disk Utility after the command ran and saw that it was reporting the 120GB of free space. Now I was able to install all. Keep in mind all my installation locations and download files were being directed to an external HD with 4TB space. For whatever reason NI doesn't care and it still wants space available in the boot HD.

DavidRoddie, I have a 250GB MBP and after cleaning over 100GB of "other" I was still unable to load the biggest installers. Disk utility was showing 130GB of free space, but 98GB purgeable. I figured I needed to delete all that but couldnt figure out what it was or find any solutions. After reading your comment I remembered that I hadnt backed up my computer in over a year, and it was prompting me all this time. Now, I simply entered the code into terminal, restarted and voila - I am finally able to download everything. You cannot imagine how grateful I am to you for searching obscure forums for my benefit bc I probably would have never gone that far. Youre my hero, dear stranger on the interwebs and fellow music enthusiast =) just signed up to confirm and to thank you.
for anyone having the same problem, try it out. this saved me a ton of headaches and from completely resetting my mac.
