    Well, without knowing it, Phil hit the head of the nail so squarely, it hurt. He is exactly right in his "suspicion" of what is going on at NI. The thing that I don't understand, is why people must first start bitching about the things they don't like, instead of trying to fix them, or ASK for help in fixing issues. I take a freaking two week vaction, first one in 6 years and come back to people bitching because they think they are someone special. Its not for us to set the schedule of when things are to be released, we give input, NI listens, and tries their damndest to make us all happy. There will always be more people who will go to every extent to complain about things, but when things are going good, they never scream the praises. You may have problems, but I guantee that for every one user having problems, there are 20 who having almost no problems what-so-ever. I have total confidence in Traktor, and I'm using the same version as everybody else, using the same hardware available to everyone else, and have yet to have any real problems. If you want help in getting you machine running right, then ask, don't come in here expecting for someone to say "gee, they're bitching, maybe I'll help them with their problem even though they haven't really said that they are having problems." Its like running into a pack of wolves screaming, and expecting them not to attack you. I hope everyone understands my point here, and if anyone doesn't, I have no problems elaborating more.

    " Face it, right now as Traktor users we have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what NI's intentions are for Traktor. As far as we know, Traktor may never get another update. Or, a major update may be eminent. The point is, as lowly users we DON'T know and that doesn't engender much optimism among the masses."
    - Certainly the worst aspect from NI !

    "Again, I want to emphasize that I do understand where you guys are coming from on the software dev. side, but I have one question to ask--how is it that other companies (e.g. PCDJ) seem to make money developing DJ software while sustaining an aggressive update schedule? Am I wrong, or aren't you really arguing that NI just has different priorities than we as Traktor users would like? . Some of us don't necessarily think that the current approach is the best, especially considering the state of the DJ software market.
    - Nothing to say else:thumb::

    For his opinion? No. For the way he's saying it? Yes. I'm not particularly fond of people calling me a politburo member, selfish or chauvinistic when they're not getting their way in an argument. Ofcourse, he is french. That does explain a lot :p

    More on-topic, though I would love to see a more agressive update schedule and hear about beta builds flying out of the office on a daily basis, I am not unsatisfied with the way things are going at the moment. Especially the 2.5.3 update was a major change that gave me pretty much everything I need to do what I do at the moment. I could be better, it could be more efficient, it could have more features... but I can work with what it has now. I'm patient. I can wait for the next upgrade to come. If you're really missing out on features, I can see where you're coming from. But having more **** in the prog just for novelty's sake, stuff I probably'll never use? I can wait.

    Right here and now, we are not gonna start bashing each other because of different nationalities, I WILL NOT TOLERATE that nor,will I tolerate inapproprite name calling. If anybody wants to call me an asshole, thats fine, I am one, and have no problems with that. So as of right now, you can keep arguing, but no more name calling. Cool?

    Via this Forum NI have asked the user base what fixes and features we would like to see in the next release. The request for suggestions was open for a long time. Requests have been relayed back to NI by the Seniors of the forum and we have been told that NI are working on version 3.0.

    You ask how manufacturers of software like PCDJ manage to maintain an agressive release schedule - they are a software house that are devoted to that one product line. Unlike NI who have an extensive product line all of which are of best of breed pro-audio applications that are used in mission critical situations by pro-users.

    Out of interest I took a look at PCDJ's forum to see what their users were saying. It doesn't make for happy reading.

    "After 1000 crashes, 1.000.000 stutters, 2 years of reading the forum, 824 days of tweaking, 10 reboots a day, etc etc, it stays the same thing: the only program not working on my PC is Visiosonic's PCDJ FX VRM.

    I can't believe they keep sending me promotional email for FX or KJ, promissing a state-of-the-art DJ program while they are not able in 2.5 years to satisfy their existing customers."

    I think the point us "politburo" members are trying to make is that we have faith in NI and Traktor. We understand that they are small and have priorities other than Traktor but we also understand that when they do deliver they deliver the best product they can.

    By the way, you're right, we, the french, are sufficient, arrogant bastards. And if you don't like it, here's my final word on the subject: http://arago4.tn.utwente.nl/stonedead/movies/holy-grail/ra/08-08.ra

    Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.

    :p :p :p

    (my take on this thread: It would be nice if Ni issued at least a minor bug fix update a bit more frequently, but the software is perfectly usable professionally as it is, so I'm ok with that)

    I hear what you're saying and you may very well be right that it's a great product, however that's not what I'm arguing. All I am saying is that no matter what market you're talking about, there is always risk in this kind of situation. And, if you're development team is already stretched too thin, maybe you should the horse before the cart and hire some more developers before undertaking a resource intensive new project.

    Now, as far as the Product Manager position, that IS promising. I just wish we didn't have rely on stuff like this to ascertain how serious NI is about Traktor.

    @Hobbes

    Whoa man, take a breath. I agree with you about the problems, personally I find Traktor to be extremely stable (although still heavy on the resource usage). However, I do have to at least partly disagree with you when you say

    As the consumers of Traktor, we indirectly DO set the schedule for Traktor with our purchases. The whole point of my posts in this thread is just to point out that right now, I personally don't think that NI has the luxury of dragging its heels (not to say that NI necessarily is). More than anything, I (and I don't think I'm the only one) would like to see Traktor become as ubiquitous as the 1200. And, if saying my part here can have even a little bit of impact in that direction, I'll be more than happy.

    other s/ware doesn't even come close

    well hopefully we'll all be raving about it when traktor 3 does come out.
    from what i've seen from all the other crap on the market, it's not even a patch on traktor which is packed with features and is robust to boot.
    all the others (pcdj, mixvibes et al(that's french n'est pas)) are bound to have loads of updates cos they are glitchy, poorly featured, gimmicky and generally absolute gash.
    yeah we want extra features and little bugfixes but NI will no doubt **** on the competition once more when it gets round to releasing something. other pro s/ware doesn't bring out a major patch or version every 6 months, look at how long it took for photoshop cs to arrive... give us all a rest and have a bit of patience.
    you must have something better to do than wait for patches to arrive, like brushing up on your mixing skills for instance...
