    BUMP!
Come on NI..one of the most requested features..and an essential one for real step sequencing..
i'd much rather have this than individual note swing as a shortcut...

Does the Akai MPC Ren can change the lenghts of each note ? Does Ren support a kind of "stepsequencer" , or just a realtime recorder?

    Com'on NI complete Maschine!

    this implementation would be ideal.

also, does anyone else find the encoder too sensitive when adjusting the note value? small adjustments are damn fiddly....

According to the 1.8 official update status, it will include:

"Revised select page (hardware) with access to note length"

Sounds like we'll get some way of editing note length with an encoder. Hopefully the change will carry over into the step sequencer and we will finally be able to edit note length just as we can edit note value and timing. /fingers crossed

The new "On The Record" should have answers posted any day now... hopefully we can get some clarification there.

I'll just balance this out by saying that I find the new select screen simple and intuitive! Ta

I think this is very dependent on how you use Maschine, but both solutions can coexist peacefully.

Btw. for my usage the new select screen is much slower and less straightforward than holding a pad, then make changes with a knob..

Oh yes - then I want to see YOU changing the note length of ONE single note. Let's say you have a 16 bar pattern with... lets say 50-80 notes!

Good luck in finding/selecting this single note - and without watching your computer screen all the time you can forget it ANYWAY.

sounds like a workflow problem. duplicate the sound and put the different voices on different pads. you shouldn't have 50-80 notes on a single pad.

and using your screen for fine editing would be a good idea either way.

I know your reply is not aimed at me, but i feel i have to comment anyway as i think aimm wants the same as me.

    >sounds like a workflow problem.
Not a problem, just a different workflow! without sounding to much like a douche, i've had the maschine a loooong time so i think i got _my_ workflow pretty much nailed and this update did NOT improve it - au contraire..

    >and using your screen for fine editing would be a good idea either way
No thanks! i really enjoy that i don't have to use the mouse

    1. adapt. if it doesnt work change it. your workflow is no longer nailed with this update.

    2. i did not say use your mouse.

why on earth should I adapt to a workflow i feel is less intuitive? makes no sense. I realize I can be forced to, but then its more likely going to be abandon than adapt.

and you 2 are complaining. I'm with the idea that it is simple and intuitive, as is the entire select page.

they're arent going to change it for 2 users, and guessing for a complex pattern of 50-80 notes rather than looking at your screen is ridiculous.

They made it possible to do this from your controller, and I'm not sure how this has affected your workflow negatively when they added something new.

so what part of this update is stopping you from making music?
NI isn't going to hand you every feature you want on a silver platter. and you can always go back to 1.7 if you really care that much.

so please, revert, adapt, or abandon :)
