DJfrog, have you made sure to be running off the mixdeck audio drivers? Do you have asio installed? What version of traktor are you running and whats your computers specs? I did note some latency, but after playing with the audio settings in traktor and asio (as expected wiht any new auidio app/hardware) I was able to find a nice balance with no lag

Also, as noted in every other post, run your firmware updates on the mixdeck, all the proper files are on teh numark site for all updating outside of traktor

is there a full manual out on the mixdeck, noobie dj here and i wanna get a little better grasp of the loop features.
once activated how to u cut it off? or do you just let the track play out? simple but if theres a better manual than the quick guide im all for it!

Other then the one that came with it, nope llol...

as far as looping there are a ton of great tutorials on youtube. pay attention to the traktor pro vids, dont worry about the mixdeck. learn traktor with your mouse as far as looping. stick to learning to use the pitch controls, using the jog wheels properly on the mixdeck when starting...I see a lot of people just jumping into looping and such without even learning what traktor can actually do first...

Youtube seems to be the best source for tutorials so far...again, stick to traktor pro vids, theres a lot more, and not much difference inthe looping features

U need to bring back the Master Output signal back to the pc....but the Mixdeck havn´t a Input, so u need a cable from the Master Out in the Line Input of the Pc...after that u can only record with external program like audiacity, because traktor only support one soundcard at one time

    What's up Maggi,

Are you trying to record with Traktor and Mixdecks? How are you recording? Are you going from your mater out to a record source? First off check to make sure your firmware and drivers are up to date. Then check your Traktor version also make sure that is up to date an the latest. We found many issues with older version of Traktor pro. I believe I had the same issue once and I reinstalled the drivers and it worked. But I also had some issues with older Traktors. Right now I'm using firmware .38 I believe the latest one, along Numark drivers and Traktor 1.2.7. Just finished recording my first DJ set few weeks ago and everything sounded good. Well of course for the obvious audio gain issues which have been reported in many forums. Let me know how you make out.

    HiKe

just going into a convo from a few pages back.
why compare the mixdeck to the s4?
im a newby and i can tell that they arent meant to be in the same class.

    just a new guys opinion.
but the mixdeck can stand alone and perform. the s4 cant
and for a new dj (what it looks to be aimed at)
    it holds its own.

Hi, I'm planning to buy one Numark Mixdeck but after I saw this topic in the forum, my opinions and ideas are not clear about buying it or not.

    So, I have some questions to the owners of the item;

    1) Are you happy with it generally?
    2) Did you fix the BPM problem?
    3) I heard that sometimes when you are playing CD, the decks led screen shows wrong song name (I mean you are playing the 1st track but it shows the 3rd tracks name) is it true? Did you fix the problem?
    4) How is the sound quality generally?
    5) If you have chance to change this DJ controlelr to another one, which controller would you choose?

Thank you for your helps :)

    Cross Fader Help

    _____________________________________________________________________

Unfortunately, you cannot soft mod the cross fader on the mixdeck. There is a hard fix that involves soldering two resisters onto the crossfader which does improve the fader to almost 100%.

You can check out this link: http://www.djjdpro.com/guides/mixdeck_fader.html

It walks you through the process step by step.

    1) I am extremely happy with the mixdeck. It is very versitile in which it can play all media and is Traktor LE ready. Excellent product.

    2) & 3) The new firmware should solve both of these issues. The BPM in general is still shakey now and then, but if you have a good ear for timings, you will rarely need them.

    4) 24 bit sound processor: very good sound.

    5) Personally, I still use CDs occaisionally, and USB mostely. There is no other unit out there that harbors all of the media in one. Even IPOD.

I've had the mixdecks for a while now. I come from the turntable family who finally got used to CDJs within the last few years. So making a jump to mixdecks was a big one. I can't say it's a bad unit but for me the sound quality is not that great. Just hard to compare Numark to Pioneer gear I guess. I'm so used to individual channel LED levels that I'm still struggling to EQ that perfect mix. What you need to keep in mind is what you hear in your headphone mix is not the same output you will hear on your speakers or recordings. I am taking this bad boy out on the road to play live so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Thank you very much bro for you explanations and informations, and another question is when you compare the two devices (Traktor S4 and the Mixdeck) which one should I choose ? (forget the CD/USB function)

If you have the 1 G and over to spend on the S4 and dont care about USB/CD feature then no question the S4 dominates the mixdeck. In my opinion the mixdeck is perfect for small gigs and events where you can pop in CDs, USB,s and drag a laptop along for Traktor. But, if you looking for a all out Traktor controller I would recommend S4 hands down.

I also have a Numark Mixdeck. Im having a problem though with pitch control in Traktor LE. Say a song is 130 bpm and the other is 80 bpm i can only bump the 80bpm song to about 95bpm or so. Finding it hard to mix , do i need to upgrade to traktor pro for the pitch control to be more then like 6% ?.

New to the forum. Havent had time to read this whole thread.

Have the mixdeck for the last six months havent had much issues except.

    - Like previously stated the crossfader is useless.

-The right deck play button needs a good push to activate (hadn't this issue when i first bought it)

Overall it does exactly what it says it does and not much more. Perfect for a mobile dj.

is there a good break down anywhere of the full functions of the loop and multifunction buttons beneath them 1-2-3.
new to djing and thats my only gripe. im a manual reading kinda guy and the quick guide that it comes with is a far cry from a manual

you can double the bpm. go to youtube and watch the tutorials for beat matching and grid setup in traktor, its a trakto setting, not a mixdeck issue. once everythings setup, you can use the program button by the source button on the mixdeck to switch the pitch %

Im going to work on an in depth video to post up on youtube. there are a lot of little tweaks and tricks that aren't mentions anywhere else that will help you a lot.

to start with I suggest heading to youtube and watching videos on looping in traktor and become familiar with the app before playing with the mixdeck.

Ill make sure to post the link to the video on here soon, until then, feel free to ask me anything, Ill try to answer it.

I use this setup every other week for shows in my area. works great. people who have turntables can still connect, use the traktor audio interfaces as well with time code cds, and vinyl and it all works flawlessly. The best thing is that if your just doing straight djing, nothing creative, and you want to work with the crowd, you can have someone drop their ipod, or flashstick into the unit and play their requests right away.

There is some touchyness with the crossfader, but any experienced dj should be able to work around it with the regular gain and levels adjustments, and if you have any experience with a soldering iron, doing the mod on the crosfader is no big deal at all...

All in all, a little disappointed in the support for the unit, but, thats not surprising considering the unit is a collaboration between two different (and competeing) companies, but the unit itself is great!
