I have a Numark Mixdeck and I run Traktor Pro on a Macbook Pro 17". I noticed that the Mixdeck does not really make it easy for me to use the FX in Traktor. I am only able to control one of the FX at a time. The only way to use multiple FX at a time is if I use my laptop and press the buttons on Traktor. I want to get rid of having to do that. I want to be able to use all my effects, as many possible at once, with out going thru my laptop and Traktor.

Is there a way to map the Mixdeck so this can be achieved? I was considering getting a trigger pad or a Traktor Kontrol X1 to have a separate hardware that will let me quickly access FX.

    Thoughts?

i have heard this before, since the mixdeck doesnt have a ton of extra knobs or buttons.
i would look into mapping the start and stop knobs to the left of the wheels

    Power supply question

    Hi,
I live in Portugal and I'm interested in buying a Numark Mixdeck in USA.
As the frequency and voltage varies from USA to Europe, I would like to know if the Numark Mixdeck power supply has a selector to change between 115v/60Hz and 230v/50Hz as other Numark products (such as NDX-400/800/900) or if I will need to buy a new power supply to be able to work with the Numark Mixdeck here in Portugal.

    Many thanks.

The Mixdeck has a universal power supply!

This deck will work anywhere in the world; I looked at the power supply on my mixdeck, and it supports 100v-240v with 50/60Hz. So all you would need to do is replace the grounded power cable with a normal one for portugal. It is the same kind of plug that is used on a computer power supply, so you can go to ANY computer shop, and ask for a power cable.

You will be good to go!

    Mixdeck jog wheel issue

Hi guys I'm running Traktor Pro 2 v.2.1.3 with a Numark Mixdeck. I have an issue with m jog wheels being extremely sensitive. I've done the Mixdeck update as well. Can anyone point me in the right direction here?

preferences-controller manager-device setup-device, choose mixdeck, under assignment table look for scratch time bend and seek position, they all have a rotary sensitivity slider under rotary encoder. any option that is linked to the jog wheels will have this slider. If you reprogram the wheels for say, effects, then when you add the controller layout, it will also have the adjustment.

I will make a tutorial tomorrow and post a link

ok here's a quick vid I threw together about platter sensitivity with my iPhone, sorry if its a little blurry lol.
Feel free to add my radio show page and post questions there, a little easier to get in touch with me there. There isn't much I don't know about the Mixdeck.

    i have a ?
if i record mixes from my mixdeck and traktor, using traktors internal recorder, since the mixer is not midi, i will not be able to fade and control the volumes independently, it will just record both tracks playing at the same time.

I recorded a blend, just two tracks playing at the same time, and it works fine.
recording was set to internal. i want to keep sound quality as good as i can.

i will need to record coming from the mixdecks record or booth RCAs, cant this be sent back into traktor to be recorded there or will i have to use an external recorder plugged into the RCAs?

Here are a couple tricks I have used in times of need and no $$$

If you have a tape deck kicking around, record it to tape, then play the tape back through an input on the mixdeck and record the mix off tape back into your pc. ($20 at a pawn shop, even less at a yard sale, and people LOVE mix tapes, can pass on used tapes and gain some contacts at shows)

run an external sound card ( i use the edirol ua-25, anything with rca input an dusb output will do) and run a background recorder like sound recorder in windows,, Fl studios, Cool edit, acid pro, etc, I believe Reaper is still free to use without licence and a personal licence is around only $70 and it is a full DAW. I REALLY SUGGEST YOU GET A DAW. it will help you a ton.

run your rca out on the misdeck through a "y" cable that converts rca to 1/4" and run into a line in another pc (maybe a friends laptop?) and use a daw that way.

I've used audacity on the mac, and works quite well for the total cost of free. :) You can also work with multiple tracks if you want to overdub.

However, you will need a 2nd audio card as the one that is built into your computer usually stinks of excess noise. I ended up using an iMic for recording, and it works surprisingly well! I had it from back in the day, and it still works very well.

(I also have a tape deck that is running from the booth outs...going old school!)

One tip I did learn when first starting out is to setup your Numark mixer so that the master output lights are just barely hitting the reds when your playing your set. Then setup your computer software (i.e. audacity) mixer so that the input volume is low, and then just use either the master outputs on the mixer or the booth output for the recording volume, and watch the record meters on the software program.

My earlier mixes had quite a bit of hiss, as the record volume on audacity was too high! I turned down the recording mixer controls on audacity, and turned up the master/booth audio instead. Works quite well!
