    -------------------
I have had my unit since August of 2009. It is the all black version. I have never had a hiss from my unit so I am not sure if you are a victim of a bunch of faulty produced batch of Mixdecks.
    ---
    -------------------
I would purchase them in a heartbeat. I, to, suffer from the same crossfader issue. As long as the price is competitive with crossfaders in general, I'd be interested.

Does the MixDeck allow control of traktor using the mixer in the middle? I'm happy to map it all myself if I have to, but only if it'll let me! Thinking of getting this.
Would I be better off getting a pair of NDX 800 and a M2, or any similar packages?

Lastly, does the MixDeck have a preview ability with headphones?

Thanks for telling me this, this will result in my exercising my 1 year warranty and getting the local music store to fix the hiss issue.

FYI - I have the gray mixer version :S

Yes, buy NDX and a M2, Yes.

Cheers, I think I'll be getting a pair of DNX800's and an M4 so I can have a third channel for the laptop. (plus there's next to no difference in price between the M1-M4)

    Micdeck hack

I just made the mixdeck hack. I'ts amazing. Perfect result. I went to a local electronic dealer and he just gave me 2 resistors because they were so cheap. Took me about 10 min from start to great mixes. :D
    STRONGLY RECOMMENDED

    Issue with Audio Drop/Software Freeze

I just purchased a Numark Mixdeck on Thursday 9-16-10 and I absolutely love it! I've used it for 2 gigs already. Easy setup and user friendly. However, the one issue that I am experiencing is that my software (Traktor Pro) is freezing and audio dropping for approx. 1-2 seconds. This occurs every 10-15 minutes. I am using a Toshiba Satellite laptop with an AMD Turion Dual Core Processor, 3GB SDRAM, 250GB HDD (music library is on external HD). Prior to upgrading to the Mixdeck, I was using the Behringer BCD3000 and Traktor Pro and had no issues. Can anyone assist me with this annoyance and embarassment? I have two more gigs scheduled this weekend!

    Thanks in advance!

I would check your latency settings for the Mixdeck Audio Drivers.

I have mine set for 5.5 ms with no issues.

Spare Yourself and Take the Product Back!

I have been following this thread from the beginning. To date I have not read any good reviews for the Mixdeck. It is flawed as it was quickly produced to create the poor man's version of the NS7. I was greatly interested in buying the product but I waited until the reviews came forward. I have been DJ'ing for over 25 years and it is clear that many manufacturers like Numark are just throwing out products just to fill the need without good quality control or user input. They know that we as DJ's want efficiency as well as the perfect mix. We are hungry for this. To fill that need quickly products such as the Mixdeck will be produced whether it is well engineered or not. This happens in all industries whether it is the manufacturing and selling of automobiles or selling audio products.

Again, mostly all of the user reviews that have read have show this product to be junk! We are not supposed to be under the hood to this level to get this thing to work. Would you accept these type problems for your new automobile? Should you be visiting a Toyota forum just to see how to simply put the stupid car in neutral? Shame on Numark! Spare yourself of "being under the hood" and simply return this product.

I was sceptical about getting the mixdeck due to the crossfader issues. I even sent my mixdeck back to numark only to have them to return it unfixed. Infact numark's technical support didnt even open it up they just switched from the xfader slope from sharp to smooth.

That was a huge dissapointment, especially since I was without a mixdeck for 1 whole month.

Then suddenly I found DJPRO's crossfader hack. It was like enlightenment I entered the stage of nirvana. haha no but really it was awsome!
Now the mixdeck is absolutly worth the money and the hack is simple enough any one with a soldering iron can do it in 10 mins or less.

I used the fixed 22K resistors and it worked like a charm. Im giving all the credit to DJPRO for hooking it up for us.

I was actually just about to get rid of the damn thing because it was fusterating to mix while my crossfader wasnt giving me the results I need to put off a good mix.

I even started regreting that I had bought the mixdeck in the first place, untill now. What a differance I have seen. its 100% neccessary if you want to pull off a good transition from one deck to the next.

Djcutmastamitch, you have a good point about a product that is not yet complete and I agree with you that numark should have fixed this issue from the begining.
Having said that I also believe you are wrong that the mixdeck is a peice of junk. It just needs a little work..something we consumers shouldnt even have to do. All numark needs to offer is a alternitve aftermarket crossfader with the hack already completed and include that as an optional accessory or even include it with the packaged box.

Maybe if we all start flooding numarks customer service department, we will see better research and design being put into these products.

    A little Strong

Perhaps my statement about the product being junk was a little strong. Nonetheless, manufacturers should do their due diligence before issuing a product to the market place. This is common in the industry and we consumers should not have to do their work for them. I do stand by the statement "Shame on Numark". I own several Numark products and they have served me well but Numark like many other audio manufacturers have falling into the trap of putting products on the market that have not been fully tested because the need and desire for the product high and a quick buck can be made in the interim.

All who have invested in the Mixdeck I wish you well. Nonetheless, keep the pressure on Numark! For the money that we are paying they owe us a quality product that is not flawed out of the gate. We should not be doing their work. Again, I wish you well.

By default, my latency was already set at 5.5. Any other ideas?

I got a reply from numark uk and they said they are now aware of the problem and can fix it. BUT will take 2-4 weeks to fix! I asked for a loan unit as I have many gigs in that time and they said they can't as there isn't one available yet. I said about the hack and surely it is only a new crossfader needed and could they send it to me and I would install it myself. But they said there is a resistor that needs to be added to the main circuit board too. I am happy for them to fix it but pi$$ed at it being away for 4 weeks when it is a flaw in there product. Thinking of doing the hack now but worried of messing it up. Does anyone know of the crossfader can be replaced if I do and what model?

How come my response from yesterday was not posted and rejected? I only stated facts and it had nothing to do with NI...WTF?

I ordered a replacement crossfader from Numark. I did the hack to my factory one and have the replacement fader as a backup. It was only about $10 to order. It ships from Arizona.

I'm going to try and write that reply again and hopefully this time around NI will not simply reject it...

The MixDeck is NOT worth the money ($899 CAD) and has LOTS of issues with it. I have invested LOTS of time with this unit (1-3 hours per night for about a month strait), not including mix time. Below I will only point out flaws with the unit and not software and settings:

    1) I had a HISSSS issue so I brought it to L&MC, they have verified the issue and have taken it in for repair. I was given a loaner while it's being repaired and sure enough it also has the HISSSS sound. I have verified this issue on VirtualDJ forums as well.

    2) The play button caved in while I was bringing track B into the mix. So I was doing PLAY (pause) PLAY (pause) PLAY,PLAY,PLAY,PLAY and BAM the button caved in.

    3) The crossfader which EVERYONE knows is an issue.

    4) When working with the unit in analogue, it seems to not recognize the BPM of a track when the CD has more then 10 songs on it. it basically says, 128 and then keeps going to 129 or 130, etc. I even tried to teach the deck by tapping the TAP button as described within the MixDeck documentation and it still does the same thing. This to me is one of the most annoying things about the unit. And yes, I am running the latest firmware!

    5) And last but not least - the iPod dock is history...it does not recognize OS 4.0 for the iPod Touch and iPhone 4. So I can no longer record my mixes in analogue via the iPod dock. I can no longer play dinner music from there either. This I am sure it can be fixed with a firmware upgrade but the last firmware was like months ago so I don't think NM has any plans on a new firmware any time soon.

Another thing which blew me away was the fact that the mixer part is not MIDI! where is the logic in that?... I am sure I know why but "WHY"

A note to NM if you are looking at this thread - if you're planning on making a V2 of the MixDeck, please consider the following:
    • Rubber buttons - not plastic
    • Quality fader - without bugs
    • Quality knobs - with lights on the pointer line
    • Better better quality CD decks
    • Better better LCD's
    • 2 mic inputs - as appose to 1
    • 2 channel mixer? (VMS4 has it, why not you)
    • MIDI mixer

All together, I would have to rate this unit as a 3 out of 5.

It is good to see users finally speaking up about the flaws of this product and not continue playing Numark's game of suggesting fixes for problems that they should be correcting in a timely manner. This Forum should be a "Users Forum" and not a "Fixers Forum" for Numark's problems. I stand behind my earlier comments. We await for Numark's professional yet timely response.

I just ordered a bunch from Numark. I will change them with the crossfader hack, test them, then offer them up for sale.

Will take a few days to get them from Numark.
