Numark Mixtrack

I just received my controller (mixtrack), I copied the tsi file from traktor cd.
there are 2 versions (pro & le) but I cant seem to use it alone.
the only way it works is if i go thru the wizard..but i must first choose my kontrol fx1 first then import my mixtrack second...if i try it alone i experience a error.
traktor will stop working and i have to force a shut down.
This is weird because the mixtrack does not have a sound card or needs stand alone drivers.
i also have a ion discover which is basically the same as the mixtrack a usb device.
my ion discover works alone.

anyone have suggestions.

what is your impression on Numark Mixtrack hardware ? I am looking to buy one and we all could use your opinion.

If you have tried other controllers maybe compare with them.

this would be the 2nd controller I own.
But i have had the pleasure of playing with a bcd3000, vci300 & hercules remix.
The numark buttons feel like bcd (plastic).
buttons are very responsive..
the really good thing is the jogwheels..they are large.
about the size of the platters on dns-3500 (good size).
Fx work great..the bad thing would be the loops..if you need them longer..you still have to use your laptop or pc..but pretty sure you can remap it.
the scroll knob very good for searching thru songs.

i've been frantically searching the knowledge base, forums and around the internet under the assumption that i'm not the only person having problems getting Mixtrack to be recognized by Traktor. i also actually need to start a new thread (because i upgraded to Traktor Duo) but i am old and do not know how to start new threads.

 

just install the cd that came with the mixtrack.
only the software no audio card drivers or control fx2.
once completed, start it and using the wizard under the usb intierfaces you should be able to see it in the numark section.

 

I am having issues using the mixtrack crossfader and the gain on the controller and having it work with traktor pro.

Is this a compatibility issue with my traktor pro setup?

Or does the the Numark mixtrack controller's crossfader and gain nobs just incompatible and do not work with traktor pro?

I can adjust the gain and the crossfader on my laptop manually but I cannot use the controller's crossfader or gain.

Any advice or knowledge on the area.

I installed the disk and recently realized they work, but aren't all that sensitive. Should they completely cut the gain and completely fade between songs? Or is that not how they work? Sorry for the lack of knowledge in the area I'm new to djing.

Is there a way to turn up the sensitivity on the gain and crossfader?

im having problems with my Mixtrack too. I already have Traktor Pro and i installed the Traktor LE disk for the TSI mapping. It worked until i exited traktor and now when i try to use the wizard the mixtrack wont appear on the list of controllers and when i import the TSI file none of the commands show up on preferences.

any suggestions?

i believe that once you upgrade from LE to Duo or Pro, you must use the "Pro" .tsi file (NI sent me the file to import). once you've imported the 10 - Controller - Numark - Mixtrack.tsi, follow the instructions below:

after importing, you will see the drop-drown menu listing "generic keyboard."

if you now click on this 'generic keyboard' then you will see the whole list of
devices, in that list you should find one 'Generic MIDI' device, this is your
Mixtrack.

Select this one (if there are more then one, then delete all but one) and then
make sure to select the valid 'in-port' and 'out-port' for your Mixtrack.

If you still have problems, then contact NI who may ask for a zipped copy of your 'Traktor Settings.tsi' file. The default path for this file is:

Windows XP:
C:\documents and Settings\*your user name*\My Documents\Native
Instruments\Traktor\Traktor Settings.tsi

Vista & Windows 7:
C:\users\*your user name*\Documents\Native Instruments\Traktor\Traktor Settings.tsi

Mac:
Macintosh HD:user\*your user name*\Documents\Native Instruments\Traktor\Traktor
Settings.tsi


in my case, they found that I had imported the setting twice, and showed me which one to delete. Also, I had to replace the Traktor "dock" icon on my mac to ensure that i was opening the most current app.

unfortunately, i still am having a lot of problems.

When i try to copy and paste the 10-mixtrack.tsi file it will stay in the documents>native instruments>traktor>settings>defaultsettings>numark file in the settings until i open traktor, then it randomly deletes itself from the folder.

I also tried to update my Traktor from 1.2.1 to 1.2.6 and it wont update after the install

when i import the .tsi file from the installation disk it will import but none of the mapping shows up, it just says numark mixtrack generic midi and theres nothing in the command table

 

you can install traktor le over traktor pro.
install the cd, but do not install the soundcard drivers or the fx kontrol...let the program..if you install the audio card drivers you will get an error.

 

I am having the same problem guys.. I have install Traktor LE from the disc however I change the controller options to MIXTRACK (not MIXTRACK LE) and it works great for a minute, until I cue up mysog it quits, then I have to go back into controller options and re set it to MIXTRACK again.. I don't understand it.. any tips?

 

Try mixtrack le instead of mixtrack. See what happens. I wish to upgrade from my xession to this. Thanks

 

Tracktor pro mapping for Numark Mixtrack controller

Hey Guys,
I was having the same problems trying to find the mapping for the new Numark Mixtrack controller for use with Traktor Pro. It is so easy you are going to kick yourself! Really.

The maaping file is located on the CD that comes with the Mixtrack that has Tracktor LE on it. It's in the Traktor factory settings folder, under default setting/controller/Numark/10-controller-numark-mixtrack.tsi. So, All you have to do is open Traktor pro, open your controller manager and IMPORT the 10-controller-numark-mixtrack.tsi file into Traktor (note: not the LE version of the file), and select the Numark Mixtrack and you are good to go...all should work fine...it did for me. It's plugged in, said my new hardware was installed and ready to use. I open virtual dj and it doesn't turn on, I open the shitty traktor program it came with and installed the disc it came with ect and it still isn't on. Am I missing something here? It looks like a blast I just wish I could get it to work

 

This specific controller use generic USB MIDI class, hence why it doesn't come with any driver. In some occasion and installation it may give some problem.

So here's few suggestions.

1. Make sure your OS is up-to-date, along with ALL drivers.

2. Try on another USB port... and make sure it's USB 2.0 compliant

3. If you're a PC user, you may want to clean your USB devices installation with USBDeView ( http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html ) and check the following link http://www.vyzor.com/support/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=186

4. Contact Numark to know if they're working on a Firmware upgrade.

I have one myself, and it work on all my machine. But I know 1 guy who have one, and have problem with on several machines (PC and MAC)... but not on mine. He also tried another brand new one, and the problem is still the same. Same problem with a Akai MPD32... who's also use the generic USB MIDI Class.

The problem is not the controller, but traktor. If you are going to use traktor, you have to install and regedter tractor le. It will not work with traktor pro with out updated firm ware. Also if you have an older laptop or low memory, traktor is a waist of time. It uses to much memory. I'm using the mixtrack with vdj and love it. I have used for my last 5 gigs, and decided to go ahead and sell my vci 100. The mix track is more simple and has no gone down once. Mainly because there is no hard ware driver. I love it. Oh, I all most for got, for the guy that had the question about on off swith. If your sound card is not configured to the right settings, the mixtract will not light up. I have played around with this for a while now. If anyone has any questions, let me know. Or i you fun ways to re=map, let me know.

I had the same issues. y. cousteau's post was a huge help. that fixed all my mapping issues.


I AM however having issues with the effects. When I upgraded to Pro from LE, all my effects stopped working. anyone have tips on this?
