This might be stating the obvious, but when you switch the "focus" from one deck to another, can't you switch the "old" deck into internal playback mode with the same button at the same time? This is how I manage using only a single SCS.1d (and I've also made a video of doing this with "actual" turntable - though I'm the first one to admit it's not too interesting to look at).

Edit: Ok... that might require a bit explaining, I've been using timecode so long that my terminology is all wrong for controllers. What I mean by "internal playback mode" is that it does not go by the signals coming from the platter, but instead "locks" the speed into whatever it is at when you make the switch.

Edit2: And there's always the possibility that V7 simply doesn't work in a similar way to the SCS.1d - I'm only making guesses...

[hack] Numark V7 + Traktor Scratch Pro

numark V7 + TSP, who'd have known it was that simple? while trying this out I didn't expect it to work that well, so I recorded a video to share this simple hack with you. enjoy!

because I'm pretty sure numark and NI are going to come out with a *.TSI for the V7 eventually, I figured this method would save people lots of work.

I wouldn't hold your breath on official support for the V7 in Traktor. The V7 is an Itch controller, so I'm gonna bet their deal with Serato prohibits it. (Since none of the other Itch controllers have official support for Traktor that seems likely.)

yeah, the deal with serato is kinda obvious - but since we have no way of knowing for sure, we can only guess. and I guess it's not gonna last forever. they wouldn't want to permanently lock out the majority of potential customers.

why not use this hack in the meantime? there's only a couple of buttons that you can't use for mappings (fx on, track load), most pre-assigned button functions work right away without the need to map them, latency is okay... setting the whole thing up didn't take much longer than hooking up the V7s

You may want to look at the SCS.1d. It works with Traktor, and is the closest thing to the 7 series controllers I can find. Perhaps it could shed some light on making the V7 work without timecode. I do like the hack though.

This saved the day again. Did a performance last night and I was going to take my turntables, etc.

But it was such a rushed setup because they decided to setup at 5 instead of three and I didn't know what the hall was like I decided to rock the NS7 instead.

The other DJ had SSL and I was setup within minutes literally and had room for my t-shirts as a decoration and other promo items.

It looked very clean and quick, people were surprised as well, not to mention the sound quality.

Once again I'm very happy with this mobile setup when needed and they should really get on the ball and embrace this combination.

Is this the best way to use V7 with Traktor?

he should have joined project ns7 before.
Platter control works natively in TPro very good.
There are just other flaws which sadly cant be fixed now.
Ill show a short followup next week when im done with my V7 review.

    Hi All,

I am about to buy some new gear, is it worth considering a pair of v7's for use with tracktor pro? or should i stick with time code for a while longer?

Don't want to be left with a nasty itch!

    Thanks,

    Geoff

Wait until there is official support.
There are some issues with the mappings which can't be resolved as of now.

@JD76 Awesome implementation. Didn't even consider playing the timecode through ITCH and feeding it to Traktor. As you said, this would effectively give you full support (except for the minor things you said) through Traktor and it would believe it's a standard timecode-accepting device such as a CD Deck etc.

Will try this when I get a chance, thanks again JD.

CtrlD was the originator of the timecode hack just to clarify that.

You have then what? Platter-control only.
That + more is already possible natively in Traktor.
Just join the Project NS7 group on Facebook for details.

I'm wondering where Mr. Quartz is for advocating this ;)

I'm still around, just focusing on music more. I'm not really seeing support on this lately.

So I just figure people know how to contact me when they're ready to get setup.

thanks :) but it's not exactly rocket science... I'm sure lots of other people thought of trying it, I simply happened to be the first to put up a video.

the most important thing is: it's a good workaround as long as there's no native support.

I see my other two posts in here, did you merge the threads? now it looks like I've been advertising it a bit too much :)

I have 2 scs decks and the mixer I strongly recommend NOt to buy this now... Maybe in a couple of month, when stanton had s special preset for a 2 Deck setup. Right it is not the thing you expect for that money.
I put my Hand on the NS7 at the local dealer... Built Qualitiy, Look and Feel is much better than stantons scs!
