    Hi everybody

I was thinking (searching) on the screen-freeze problem i (still) have with my Traktor Pro. It still appears 3 à 4 times in an hour.
I use an Numark Omni Controller to control my Traktor software.

At my workplace (radio station) i recommend to buy Traktor Pro software + Numark Omni Control to use on live gigs. This weekend was the first time the Traktor got 'out' and was used by a colleague. Same problem showed up : screen freeze (with even short audio drops, but i guess this will have to do with the latency, so as soon as the laptop gets back, i'll look into that).
But it's the 'screen freeze' that bothers me.
I also still have the screen freezes once in a while (luckily without sound drops) on my system. Both systems use an Numark Omni Control. Coincidence ?
    Both laptops are new.
Are there others here that use Numark Omni Control on their Traktor and also have the issue of the screen-freezing (or even audio drops) ?

It's making me a little bit crazy and annoyed that i can not pinpoint or find the solution to the problem ...

    Thanks for the feedback
    Kristof

Done some more 'investigation' regarding the screen freezes. I installed DPC Latency Checker on the laptop and runned it while Traktor was running. Laptop played over half an hour and DPC Absolute Maximum Latency was 505 us. When the screen freezed, even the DPC screen freezed, but showed no peak the moment the screen freezed !

hmm, are there any suspicious programs running in the background?

Not that i'm aware of. And the laptop doesn't go on the internet. The strange thing is that the DPC is not showing any peaks the moment the screen freezes.

From the Start-->Run menu run msconfig. Turn off any services and start-up items you do not need. I usually hide al Microsoft items then turn off everything except the Native Instruments and controller services.

In the device manager turn off all wireless adaptors and, if you are not using it, the CD. In the USB hubs, set the properties-->power to always on.

In the performance manager set the computer for max performance.

In the power manager set the computer for always on and make sure nothing ever goes to sleep or turns off (drives, monitors, etc.)

    Hmmm... what else?

You will not see any peak here as the screen will not be re-drawn so it may well peak but you will never see it. Something is effecting the graphics drivers at this point. I've never used DPC but can it output to a log file which you can check after the freeze or is it GUI only ?

Maybe it would be a very good help if there was a program, like DPC, that also shows what the peaks mean, where they come from, what causes them. Now, in DPC you can only see there is a latency peak, witch may cause the screen freeze, even sound drops, but you can not see where the peak comes from or witch (in the background) piece of software is responsible for that peak.
Anybody already worked with or aware of a program that can do this ? If I google, I only get the DPC Latency Checker.

I got fed up with the problem and took the laptop to the store where i bought it. I explained the problem and they took the laptop back in for a check-up. They formatted the HD and re-installed Win7, this time only installing the essential drivers and programs, needed to run Win7, without installing the HP (Hewlet Packard) programs, delivered with the laptop. I reinstalled my Traktor Pro and everything is running smoothly now (no more screen freezes) when i tested it ! Last Saturday I DJ-ed with the laptop for 5 hours and no freezes !
Seems the problem is solved and it had something (a whole lot) to do with things running in the background of Win7.
