i can't remember checking this setting but reaktor says i only have 1 processor. im running a Q6600.

i was playing around with set affinity in one session and i fear rekator isn't recognising the other cpus for splitting multiple voices over the other cores.

Reaktor does not have any kind of multi-core or multi-processor support, if that's what you're asking. Your host, if you are using one, should still be able to assign multiple instances of Reaktor to multiple cores like any other program, but in standalone or a single instance you are limited to one core.

Does anyone have a feeling for whether R6 might support multiple cores? I'm interested to know because it might swing my decision on whether to upgrade my PC.

    Cheers

Probably not. 99% of the software instruments out there don't; they leave core distribution to the host.

Why? Latency. Reaktor would need at least 3-5 ms additional latency to distribute threads. A host usually has somewhat higher actual latency, and can internally compensate to some degree.

It's more like not dating Heidi Klum because you found someone better looking who's less expensive and not so high-maintenance ;)

No, even more like dating a woman worse looking, but who gets blind drunk and passes out after one drink; a cheap date, and you can just roll over and go to sleep afterwards...but not a very good company since she's always....

    ...wait for it....

    ...wait for it...

    crashed :p

Wait. Which side of the argument are you on, Dizzler?

LOL. I was saying that the more attractive girl was the PC, and Heidi Klum was the Mac, for the record. Of course, your typical Mac enthusiast would pass up the chance to marry someone who is hotter and better in bed than Heidi in exchange for the chance to go on one date with Heidi, only so that they could..... Wait for it.........

Spend 6 hours a day telling all of their friends on the internet they went on a date with Heidi Klum :p

Ah, but you're forgetting all the fringe benefits that dating Heidi Klum would bring to the party, my dear Dizzle: All her hot model friends and all the free booze and drugs that follow them. Oh yeah, and the sex with drunken models.

Yup, the Mac's Heidi, all right. :D
