October Maschine Forum Beat Battle

Hello Maschinists,

it's on again. This month we want you to produce a track in the genre of 'Techno'.

Taking your concerns of the previous beat battles into account we have made some drastic changes to how this Battle will work. Find them in bold in the text below.

Make a beat in Maschine, upload it to soundcloud, tag @nativeinstruments and #MASCHINEbeatbattle but do not post it anywhere just yet. We want to keep all submissions secret until we open voting on the 25th of this month.

Vote
On the 25th I will open a voting thread where you can post your submission for this month's battle. Only one submission per person this time. If you are unable to submit on the 25th but want to enter, drop me a pm with the soundcloud link and I will submit it for you.
Vote on your favourite tracks by liking the post. Dislikes will not count and you have to be a registered NI product owner for your vote to count (when in doubt I might have to ask some people for their NI email). Votes for yourself also do not count.
Voting will close Friday the 30th at 6 p.m. Berlin time!

Win
There will be two winners this time. One is picked by you - the person with the most likes on their track - the other is picked by us, @Keir @ NI and I will play dictators this time and pick our favourite based on originality and other factors. The winners will receive one Komplete instrument and one Maschine expansion of their choice plus will wear the glorious sash of victory.
Additionally you can win a maschine expansion just by voting. Yes, it is as easy as liking your favourite tracks and you might be picked at random.


Small print:

• You can use any sounds you like, but make sure you do not use copyrighted samples. NI does neither endorse this nor do we take responsibility for your sample usage.

• The winner has to share their .mpjr file with us so we can verify it was built in MASCHINE
• Please do not submit full techno mixes. I know there are some great users who make increadible live sets with Maschine but please keep the time of your fellow forum goers in mind
• A beat has to be a minimum of 16 bars
• Techno is this month's genre but as always it is up to you and the community to interpret the boundaries of this

When you say "a Komplete Instrument" as part of the prize, what does that include?

As a Komplete Ultimate user, I pretty much have everything except "Emotive Strings" and "Symphonic Brass".

 

It means one single software synth or effect of the Komplete range. In your case you would probably want to get emotive strings or either Symphony Series Brass Solo or Ensemble, but not both as that would be a bundle.

 

Ok, cool.

I wasn't sure if it included third party sample libraries, particularly as the Symphonic Brass guys have said that it won't be part of Komplete.

I just wanted to give a late congratulations to the September Beat Battle winners! I was busy and didn't have time to post this earlier.

 

+, I forgot to vote on the actual thread, after liking some in the submissions thread... But there were strong entries, and the winners were well deserving of the spoils.

 

First timer here:

Are we allowed to use non NI VSTs for this beat battle? I started making a jam today using some VSTs and figured I should ask before progressing any further on it for the purpose of the battle.

OK, cool. I guess I was just confused about submitting the .mxprj file. If someone tried to play the project file without having the VSTs I used, wouldn't there be portions of the song unplayable, due to the VST being missing?

Or am I thinking too deeply into this?
