Might want to make the voting thread "sticky", otherwise it'll disappear off the screen.

Good point, however people often don't look at stickies :(

Well maybe you can add the occasional "bump" post to it, to bring it back to page 1. ;)

...again some really nice submissions! and thanks for the competition - it really is a lot of fun! hopefully it'll get its deserved attention this time. wouldn't be right if it stays being such an "exclusive" event.:)

I've made it a sticky. And yeah I also hope we get some more people participating. We might share it on socials again to get some new people, but then we will have the ole discussion about cheating again.

...I haven't followed previous discussions, but how could raising public awareness for a competition regarded as cheating?

Would be nice to get more people involved. Maybe eliminate the "crowd judging" and get a guest judge in each month who is ascoiciated with whichever genre is on that month? You could then open it up to other social sites worry free.

The problem with "crowd judging" (other than the cheating thing) is, it's virtually impossible to get people to actually listen to the music. It's not just here, but all music forums. The actual "music" sub forums on any site are virtual ghost towns. You can almost see the tumble weed when you visit them. It's been like that for years.

...is it? - that's really sad! But let's wait, see & hope for the best. Just a quick idea: perhaps a "vote and win a Maschine Expansion" could be added to the sticky thread title. If this doesn't work out, perhaps a "vote and we'll let you see what's cooking for Maschine" might do. :D Can't believe the most popular thread for weeks has been this Akai vs.NI speculations...

You both have valid points. But the idea behind this competition was to create something for and from the community. This month Keir and I will pick a second winner but not without concerns. Maybe I like Deathmetal and Keir is really into African flute music and we hate all your techno productions (obviously not).

Either way let's give it two more days to see and then maybe give it a little push with a changed title or social media if it stays quiet.

The idea with a guest judge is also really cool, but we would have to get a respected judge from each genre each month. We will discuss this.

Great input, keep it coming. Also, any wishes for next month's challenge?

...well, my point wasn't so much on pushing, but rather on voicing my curiosity about public attention. :) As for the next month's challenge I'd like something towards DnB. And about further suggestions it might be interesting exploring both the challenge and the community part. I could imagine Beat Battles with certain rules, i.e. just using the Maschine factory samples or not using any samples, but only using the included instruments of Komplete Select. Or something like the One Synth Challenge over at KVR. Or remixing a given project. And for the community part - it might also create interest publishing the projects or the just winning project (maybe in some sort of Maschine User Library) after the competition, so that the community can have a dialogue over the music itself...

    Some good tracks:thumbsup:.
I wished to participate but i thought what i started to make wasn't really "techno",but again i call everything electronic music so it's hard to stay in a particular genre..

    Great stuff.
Had no time to produce / finish my own track for this beat battle.

    Good luck!

@Jonas @ NI it seems that we have a very clean battle until now and and more voters. Congrats, new rules are working !

Same here, as the track I produced strayed pretty far away from "techno" and while I still decided to submit, clearly voters are recognizing that . Techno is so broad it becomes very subjective as to what remains within that genre. Regardless, I must say, these contests are very fun and inspiring for me, and they seem to keep the NI community tuned into whats important, that is making music. As for next months genre, I'd recommend something more specific like maybe tropical house or indie dance, but the DnB might be cool too.

Indeed, but congrats go out to you guys as well as the new rules were largely based on your feedback!
Let's see if a clear winner manifests itself until tomorrow evening.
Overall I am impressed by all tracks, finding our favourite is quite the challenge.

...would perhaps that technicality be of any help that, specifically for this track, I programmed all the synth sounds from scratch in Massive? :D

Voting is now closed and we have our winners.

Congratulations to @puzzlefactory who takes it all this month, with 'Resonance 01' being your favourite.

It was a tough decision but our jury vote goes out to... @loachm ! We really enjoyed your housy track. Congratulations.

Also, the luck shines on @bluemoon151. The RNG decided you do not have enough expansions yet.

Thank you all for participating. Great submissions all around.

We will get the next battle up early next week.

    Cheers,
    Jonas
