Of course it's possible. The Kore 1 audio side's a generic interface; you can use it with anything.

    Sample library

Will it be possible to install the delivered sample library on an external hd? on some laps 6gig are a lo of hd-space if you already own komplete and some other vst`s with sample-based librarys.

I purchased Kore 1 after April 1st in order to receive the free Kore 2 upgrade; at the times, though, I didn't know it would have been a "physical" upgrade but rather a download one.
Will the local (national) distributors be engaged in sending the upgrade to their customers or will it be shipped directly from NI's headquarter?
And anyway, 5Gigs or not, will a download option be available for eligible users?
    Thx.

I think the official announcement said 'Boxed' only. No mention of download, one way or the other.

i take it that that also means that i will continue to use it with asio4all drivers and should not expect other audio drivers the be put out for kore 1 in the future

i would be surprised if you are not able to install the sample libraries to an external. all other ni products allow you to. you will just have to point the application to the library.

Why don't you file a support request and get Kore 1 working instead? ASIO4All in my experience doesn't work half as well with Kore as the normal drivers do...

Yep. You're asked during the install where the sample content will be written to.

I've found the same. When ASIO4ALL works, it's wonderful - latency WAY below Kore's normal settings for crackle-free audio, but I find it to be very unstable; it usually falls over during a session. The Kore drivers, though requiring a high latency setting, appear to be rock-solid. I've only had a couple of 'seizures' which I suspect were Kore (and, even in these, Kore was only chief suspect - NOT the only suspect).

Now, if NI could shave a few more ms off that latency.....

Here on a MacIntel Core 2 Duo 2.16 GHz running Cubase 4, with 1024 samples of buffer size, "lower latency" unchecked, 4 seconds of disk preload and normal audio priority, I have a dazzling 47/48 ms of latency! Cut the buffer to 512 samples and it'll show 25/27 ms; check "lower latency" and it will decrease to 16/18 ms but at the price of a huge cpu load.
Looks as though NI needs a HUGE razor to shave such hairy results.

I don't think we'll ever see a better specific driver for Kore 1, but since it seems both the Audio Kontrol 1 and the DJ thing share the same driver, since they're not at all hassle free and since contrary to Kore 1 they aren't discontinued...

    Cheers.

Crikey! I'm away from my music machine at the moment (so I can't check the exact settings) but my (pc) specs are WAYYY lower than yours but I'm grizzling about 13ms with acceptable load. I'd obviously like it to be lower but.......

i switch between the inbuilt drivers and the asio4all drivers... they are both fine. my point was is this the end of audio drivers for kore 1?
    thanks

...the crucial argument for me to upgrade to Komplete 5 and Kore 2 is its usability - will all Kontakt 3 instruments be categorised for Kore and it be possible to control every parameter of their performance views via the Kore controller? Or will it have some poorly designed easy access pages again?

I know the earlier Mac drivers were pretty horrible, but with the latest drivers you should be able to get reasonable latency with fairly reasonable (5% or so) CPU load, I'd think.

Here on my 4600x2, I run at 6 ms (2 ms USB/4 ms audio- about 15 ms input to output) with CPU loads from instruments up in the high 80s- low 90s before I start having issues. The one big advantage of the Windows driver is that you can adjust your USB latency, which is where I've got an idea the Mac driver starts falling apart...

    I'm using the latest drivers!

    Indeed.
Add to that that Cubase 4 has its own troubles in adequately dialoguing with the Mac's CoreAudio thing and you'll easily get the whole picture. I'm just downloading the 4.1 upgrade, so don't know yet if they sorted everything out a little better: for sure it's not only Steiny fault, and we'll see pretty soon what Leopard will bring to the subject. As far as I'm concerned, a FW interface is on the way, and a good one, so I'll use Kore 1 controller the same way Kore 2 is meant; nonetheless, a good Mac driver for Kore 1 would be much appreciated.

    Cheers.

OK I took that as an answer. No posted copy and no 5Gb library as I don't have Komplete.

It appears to be stated here that the library works without any NI Instruments so Komplete is not needed after all so all registered between Apr07 and Nov07 Kore1 users can expect the boxed update and 5gb library sent to them.

Who is right? I suspect the mod! :D

Also, Thomas Martin from NI stated in this thread:
    http://www.native-instruments.com/forum_us/showthread.php?t=55594
Conclusion: All versions of the Kore 2 software are boxed (not downloadable) and contain the 5 GB sample library.

No. I meant they only get it at the price you quoted if they fulfill those conditions. The package is the same for all. It's the price that varies.
