I was always dead against more DAW features in Reaktor, but recently I have been thinking it would be great if I could do everything in Reaktor & not have to dip into Live (which realistically are the only 2 audio apps I use anymore).

Let's see what the Bitwig guys are bringing to the table as they are teasing with a native modular environment in their DAW once they release the 1.0. It's a lot of ground to cover both Live and Max4Live though...

YES! I'm soooooooo looking forward to the new Reason 6.5 with the update of Re (Rack Extensions)

    http://www.propellerheads.se/news/rackextensions/

Now I'm hoping that NI joins the team and develops their products for Re. I have upgraded the Komplete suite for the past few years and would love to be able to utilize it both in my Sonar and Reason software.

Come on boys & girls! Let's change the world. :)

Seems like the Propellerhead Interns are all working overtime spamming all the other music software forums :)

URS says Propellerhads is allowing just original GUI parts, so it will be more a developer feature, not a real recreation of a synth. So i dont think NI will release a RackExtension if the NI design where lost. Its like the Ableton synths feature with AAS.

I looking forward on the new ARA plugin format, im sure it will be open new doors for using reaktor.

    cheers

ARA is not a plugin format.

Like I said in the Kontakt thread of the same subject, I think there will be NI products in Re form. As others have mentioned, it's a new market for them (the closed off Reason community) so why wouldn't they?

But like I said in the other thread, I don't think they will jump in with Reaktor or Kontakt or Guitar Rig. But I could see them dipping their toes in with Massive or FM8 or even Pro53. And Reaktor/Kontakt players wouldn't be that hard to implement I shouldn't think.

Or maybe NI, and other major Audio software developers will see this as an opportunity to hang one of their major competitors out to dry. Remember business is not just about consumers, it's also about control of market share. From a business perspective, if the likes of NI jump in and develop for Reason, that will inevitably increase Props market share... meaning other devs will lose out - possible NI. So will they gain more than they lose? I guess that depends on what direction they are heading in over the next few years - only they know that.

Business is about profit, so if NI want to make money off the propheads then they will have to design stuff for reason or come out with something that rivals reason and takes those customers. To not make reason version instruments thinking that it will hurt propellarhead is ludicrous and silly business. If NI sees profit in it they will do it, if they don't then they wont do it and its not going to hurt propellarhead at all because im sure other big name companies will be on board with propellarhead.

    This is incorrect.

    This is only partially correct.

I would define industry standard as something that is universally recognised as being "the choice of professionals". This quite simply is not the case with VST.

Propellerheads have stated on several occasions that they don't wish to do this as it would break Reason's workflow paradigm, where everything is nice and neat, and it would hugely compromise the CV and routing structure which underpins it's flexibility. In other words it would stop Reason being Reason, and make it a "me too" DAW.

As an 11 year veteran of Reason, and the Props forums, I know there have been somewhere in the region of 7,500 different threads dedicated to making this argument. The case has been made, and all you get is flamed for this. I myself do wish that this wasn't the case, but over the years as a consequence of keeping Reason the way it is, there has been the formation of 2 hardcore elements within the community; one is the progress requesters, the other those opposed to change.

In my life experience, things change and technology progresses whether you like it or not. Inability to adapt is the cause of extinction. NI certainly aren't anywhere near extinct of course, but it's in their interests to always be adaptable. Kore getting canned shows that they actively make efforts to adapt, and thus, the bigger the RE format gets, the more likely that NI will embrace it.

    Thanks

What on Planet ********ed have you you been taking mate? :D

Seriously though, stay off the drugs.

....and let's see what the courts say about this little venture.

Personally I've never liked Live as the GUI sends me to sleep, but if it works for you then great. With an APC 40 or similar dedicated contorl surface, I can see it being a bit like using Maschine, where because the focus is on the hardware it makes it more "real". It's just never grabbed me personally though. When using Lite and demo versions it's always killed my creativity stone dead but hey, "horses for courses" and all that jazz.

    How about YES. :D

This is incorrect. The simplified version is that the SDK requires that the GUI fit the Reason rack, and because of this the GUI of all plugins developed for it would need to be modified.

In Reaktor GUI modifications are pretty quick to do so the existing Library would be a relatively quick port, and it would also allow for redesign of some the older GUI's that never really hit the mark. The DSP side of things is a simple case of recompiling existing code. Most of the rest of it has already been done by the Props themselves.

For me the question is how much of Reaktor can NI realistically get into Reason.

I think a Player is likely in the short term, then a monitoring period to check it's viability stability.
    ---
No-one at Propellerheads is doing this. The large amount of web activity at this time is being organised by Reason users via Facebook, twitter etc, and direct emailing of the companies.

This will be my last post on this thread, and I thank all those for posting their various yay's and nay's.

I am happy to report that I have heard through another RE campaigner that NI are now considering this, and taking it seriously.

This is really all I could have hoped for, was for the new platform to be given a fair hearing, and I trust NI will give it just consideration.

Many thanks to NI ! :)

The vast majority of professional audio software developers choose to support and develop for the VST standard - more than for any other plugin format.
As far as professional musicians, they are less relevant because they are a minority group amongst consumers of audio software - there are way more amateurs and hobbyists.

IMO it is a cheek to start a thread with „official petition” because it is only one opinion.

@Sowari - Could you please be kind enough to close this thread, so it doesn't cause friction among the community. We hit our mark, and I'm happy to leave it at that.

As for the "official" thing, the idea was to do this in an attempt to streamline the request to a single thread for the Reaktor area, and keep things clean and tidy. The reason for keeping things clean and tidy is that I've seen how divisive requests for progress can be to communities, and when 100 threads go in on the issue it only aggravates things even more.

    Many thanks
