I just hope the the midi programing section in Traktor PRO is really improved to make setting the Xponent a snap. Cause Right now my custom Xponent TKS. File for T3.4.1 is the bomb. and I 'd have to lose any functions that I now have in rebuilding a tsi file.

    No fightin shakiera,shakiera!

I agree if the xponent its not supported then they should not say all major MIDI controller are supported. It doesnt matter that m audio made the controller and they gave a free crappy software so they can charge more for it, other major softwares like vdj, mixvibes, decadance support it, why not traktor?

I looked through all 26 pages , and did as many searches as I could think of with no luck. So my question is , will TSP support HID controllers such as the CDJ-400 natively ?

Guys why is it that you are just breezing over [read: ignoring] the very obvious here? M-Audio is making a competitive product to Traktor Why on earth would you expect NI to support a direct competitiors product? Are you also ranting at M-Audio for the same thing? What do you suppose their response might be? Do you think we've collectively flogged the deceased equine sufficiently yet?

On the Midi setup front? You're gonna love the new Midi support in Traktor Pro. Actually you're gonna love it and hate it at the same time, but I'm betting there's more love than hate.

First off the Midi Commands themselves are much more atomic in nature now.
In Traktor 3 you had a single command that was under the hood doing several things in a macro-like fashion. In Traktor Pro those macro functions have been split apart into constituent pieces. That has allowed the pieces of commands to be distilled down to provide more fine grained control. A further improvement this has allowed is to re-organize the Hotkey commands into a more sensible structure and to drop the myriad of essentially duplicated commands. These changes do not mean a reduction in functional control in fact its quite the opposite. You can now combine any number of the building blocks into complex controls to give you the kind of control until now you've drooled over.

One other thing that gone is MIDI pages. Yep thats right, MIDI Pages... gone! I used MIDI pages A LOT and even though thats the case I'm still smiling. What its been replaced with are MIDI Modifiers. These MIDI Triggerable controls replace MIDI pages and provides many more configuration possibilities. In a full implementation you get the equivalent to 128 MIDI pages. It takes a little to get your head around but you can use it to do all kinds of ery cool and interesting tricks. We can get into the specifics later. I think you will be impressed at what complex functionality can be contructed using modifiers. This new functionality does come at a price though. For one there is steep but short learning curve with Modifiers. The other is the fact that NI have not improved the UI for constructing the MIDI commands and the side effect of making commands atomic is that you will likely be creating very large presets. My current preset for my BCR 2000 and two SCS3.ds is over 400 controls and its about 90% complete. Its difficult to keep track of the controls without using the comment line. This area of Traktor Pro is critically in need of improvement.
I have been testing the hell out of the system over the past weeks and I have tested literally hundreds of commands and complex functions. Its stable flexible and highly functional albeit a little hard to understand once presets get big. You are gonna love it though just you wait and see.

Will it support the CDJ-400? Yes, a preset is provided.
Does it support HID devices? Yes [USB mouse / USB Keyboard]

HID = high intensity discharge, PhilL. Get with the import car scene man. And to my knowledge, Traktor should indeed support HID's because my car has HID headlights and I have Traktor LE installed in the ol' carputer.

I know but I've only ever really used it once and the trophy wasn't worth all the effort putting it in. When I get a carputu into my gf's ride I'll probably buy a Traktor Pro license to pop it in there. Makes more sense, at least that car is drivable into smaller areas like retailer exhibit spaces.

    Traktor LE Upgrade

    Hi,

I got a question concerning the upgrade to Traktor Pro.

I understand that REGISTERED user of Traktor 3 and 3 LE as well can upgrade for EUR 99,-.

I'm using Traktor 3 at the moment (registered) however I also have a "virgin" Traktor 3 LE as well that never has been installed.

Now instead of using my current Traktor 3 installation for an upgrade I'd like to use my Traktor 3 LE copy for the upgrade (in order to keep my current Traktor 3 untouched).

Do I need to install Traktor 3 LE and register in order to be able to upgrade or will be enough if I just supply the serial number when ordering the upgrade online? The 3 LE version came with my Vestax midi controller but I assume it's good for an upgrade.

Any help on this would be highly appreciated. Thx! :)

    Phil,

I'm pretty sure the "Mr. HID midi question" was looking for an answer to whether or not Traktor Pro supported the high definition midi protocol.

    I hate people.

@WoodStock, in this case its the License you are upgrading. Unless you want to preserve the license state of T3 then your current T3 installation will be just Fine BUT follow my advice BACKUP! I'm not sure that the LE license will allow you to buy the T Pro upgrade, but I will ask.

    Nudging

    Hey,
I've been using ableton 7 to mix with a standard turntable set up and have been finding the nudge function really useful, simply mapping it to my midi controller.
Will I be able to do this with tractor pro so that if I decide to play just a record for a while and then want to bring tractor back in I can have the same flexability that I do right now with ableton?
    Many thanks
    lcp

Phil, regarding HC4500 please ask again. (display)
Without this, Traktor is running behind all competitors!

natively as in it uses the HID functionality rather then the midi like Serato does and the Pioneer DJS software. I think Denon has a player or two aswell that function with HID and supported software aswell.

currently if you use a CDJ-400 w/ Serato , all functions like the display , lights on jog wheel , pitch resolution (as it would be like on standalone) etc.. I don't own serato, but in the pioneer DJS software , if i go up .02 on the cdj in pitch, it goes .02 in the software and the jog works 100% also.

    Hope that helps.
