Offline activation

    Im trying to activate Kontakt 2 offline.

    I followed the required steps for an offline activation request.
    I was granted an 'Activation Return File.naf'.

    (this is simply to activate Kontakt 2 on a partition without internet connection, its already activated on the internet partition)

    I reboot on my non internet partition, follow the required steps.
    and recieve a message (cant remember exact wording) like this...
    Kontakt 2 appears to be activated etc...

    The problem is that it isnt activated, and simply wont activate.
    Ive tried launching Kontakt 2 from my internet partition (while in the non internet partition). It launches but says it isnt activated.

    Any ideas?

    Ok, Ive downloaded the latest Service centre and installed that on
    my non internet partition.

    Not only will it refuse to activate Kontakt 2, but now it says my serial number is invalid:angry:

    This is not fair that such dodgy protection effectively hamstrings an 800$ program. I have paid 800$ yet I can not use this software!!!

    I need help with this please NI.

    Hello bigjobs,

    does your offline account have administration rights? Newer versions of our products should work without admin rights, but if you have installed Kontakt 2.0, this might not work. Depending on the exact Kontakt version it might also be necessary to install the software in both Windows accounts, since older versions look into the user branch of the registry for the serial number. If this is not helpful, please contact registration support and send in the system id or support file from Service Center.

    Many thanks for the prompt reply.

    The installation disc is version 2.2

    So its not and older installer/disc.

    My offline account has admin rights.

    Ill contact registration support when I get the time.

    I havent contacted support, I was scared off by the long form that had to be filled out!

    I enabled the network connection on my non internet partition, used the license manager, and all of a sudden my serial number was no longer invalid and I could activate Kontakt 2 on the non internet partition of my harddisk. After activation disabled the Lan driver.

    This looks like a nasty showstopper bug with the 'service centre'.
    I personally think Id prefer a dongle, its less invasive than this.

    When I get the time I will fill in the support form, as it would be good to know that I can do an offline activation in the future.

    I agree totally. I just tried to activate Kontakt 2.2 in offline mode and this does not work.

    First I tried the activation with the old service center, then I downloaded the latest version, but no difference. I am not willing to connect my music computers to the internet!!!

    The consequence: My studio Pc is running a Demo mode of Kontakt 2.

    the form for activation problems is not as long as the technical support form. You can enter a request here:

    Hello Marius,

    when I start the Service center, the only not activated product, which is shown, is Kontakt 2. Everything else is activated (I am using Komplete 3, Komplete 4, Massive and all sound packages, which don't need a service center activation)

    Then I create the exporte file, save it to an USB stick and upload it with internet connection to get the NAF File. Everythings seems to work fine.

    When I Import the NAF File to the Service Center, the Service center first says: OK.

    But when I close the Service center and start it again, it shows me again Kontakt 2 as a non registered product. And when I open Kontakt I get the message, that I use a non registered version.


    But I got an answer from the support team, which maybe helps, I will try it.

    sorry for the delay, I was not at home for a few days. And sorry again, but the proposal of the support team does not work.

    Mrs. Alisch proposed to enter the serial number in the service center -> Hauptmenü -> Produktübersicht -> Produktdetails.

    But the correct serial number is already there.

    I sent my system ID to the support team.

    PS: I had a lot of problems with NI software in the past months. Problems with Battery 3, Massive, Absynth 4, FM8. And now problems with Kontakt 2.2. I am really not amused

    Now I got informations from the Service Team.

    I installed Komplete 3 completely and when I got Komplete 4 I installed only the additional software. Everything else worked fine.

    Now the problem is, that the Service Center is not able to handle the serial number of Kontakt 2 as a part of Komplete
    3.

    The solution is, that I have to re-install Kontakt 2 with the Komplete 4 DVD, create an export file, upload it to NI, get my authorization file and import this file. And then I have to to the same procedure again for the update Kontakt 2.2

    Sorry, NI. You're kidding me. Does nobody thought about a Service Center, which is able to activate Komplete 3 products, too? Do I have to make installations again for EVERY Komplete 4 product? Based on my experiences I am not happy about that.

    Hello alpha-w,

    this probably has been suggested since you have Kontakt 2 as a Komplete supplement, meaning that this is part of your Komplete package and after the update to Komplete 4 part of your Komplete 4 license. The support suggested this since it is the safest way in order to get a problem sorted out. You can keep the libraries and do not have to re-install all of them. If you have installed Kontakt from a separate DVD you will have an uninstallaion entry for Kontakt alone. After installing again from the Komplete 4 disk, the association to your Komplete license will be accomplished and the activation should work as expected. Usually it should also not cause problems when you install the products the way you did, but in particular cases it might cause a certain problem.

    I agree that this procedure is far from being perfect, and we seriously plan to make things easier in future releases. If your problem is still not sorted out, please let me know your ticket number. It is best to send us then your current ARF and let the support know about this thread.

    Dear Marius,

    thanks a lot for your help. But I am not able to activate Kontakt 2.2

    I installed Kontakt 2 from the Komplete 4 DVD and this 2.1 version is activated correctly. But when I install the 2.2 update the system shows me Kontakt 2 as a part of Komplete 3.

    Sorry, one more information.

    I checked the Windows registry. There is the serial number of Komplete 4 shown in Kontakt2.

    It should show both, the Kontakt serial under "SNO" and the Komplete serial under "BundleMember". However, we probably can solve your problem quickly once you have sent us the ARF file.
