    Hey guys!

My MacBook from 2008 just died. Seems the logic board gave up on me. I've been using this MacBook only for DJing with a scratch pro for about a year and it has been blazing fast. Before that I used it daily for everything.

That has been one of my most important ideas - not to use my DJing laptop for ANYTHING else.

But now that it gave up, i need a new laptop for djinh. I'm a big fan of MacBooks but the price tag for a new MacBook Pro is too high especially when its used only for one purpose.

They are offering a new logicboard, but it holds a 1.83 GHZ processor instead of a 2GHZ i used to have. I'm a bit afraid about the performance with the latest Traktor Scratch PRO. Maybe there is not much of a difference, maybe there is...

And right now, I don't feel like taking a risk of buying a used MacBook either. I need my laptop to work flawlessly.

Does anyone have any experience, should I even consider buying a mid-range Windows-based notebook? These are about twice cheaper. I'm not so sure how they last however. I don't DJ out much so it will not get a beating every weekend. But I need it to run smoothly where ever I go to play out.

Hope you can share some of your thoughts on this.

well, of course you should consider it.. the difference in price for the same performance with traktor is massive.and it is nice to see an apple owner being open minded..lol

you can get a decent i5 based machine for $600 and up.. just avoid nvidia graphics as there have neen some issues.. perhaps no longer an issue but better safe than sorry..

my advance as an old win user: go for a refurbished macbook if you like bargains!

Of course, a win7 system is reliable, but if you're looking for solid housings AND solid software - stay with apple!

If you buy a MBP - there is no need to use it for only DJing.

Unless you are downloading porn or playing massive games, you wont have any issues using it to surf the web, download music, check email and DJ.

I am sure you can do the same with a PC...but my experience with Traktor and MBP has been so positive and easy, I wouldnt consider anything else.
