dont mix the persons... while remedydub (the OP) calmed down once we started finding out the underlying issue, user M.Verheijden is the one who did only rant ;)

that should not be the case. if it takes longer than 3 working days, let me or any other moderator know the ticket number. we escalate such lost tickets then internally.

    Good to know.

For the record I'm running the latest version of Traktor Pro which I believe is 2.1.2 on Windows7 OS with an X1, Audio6 Soundcard, and the laptop is fairly decent HP with an i3 chip and 4g ram.

Knowing now to save the collection before closing is the single piece of information that is worth its weight in gold here.

    Cheers

I've also had this issue. Reverted back to 2.5.0 because 2.5.1 refused to save the track collections or playlists.

Traktor is giving me an error about not being able to write to the disk...

I first noticed it when a few of my playlists were red... thought nothing of it, imported some new tracks, made some playlists. Quit 2.5.1, relaunched it later in the day and playlists were gone...

trying reinstalling 2.5.1 , and had the same issue.

currently running a 2008 macbook on Lion 10.7.4.

Ok, first a warning; I'm just going to throw a ball around, this might not have anything to do with the original problem, but this one manifests itself in a similar manner...

A friend of mine had all his Traktor data on a removable harddrive, and at one point his system stopped writing changes to the disk. We eventually traced the problem to the fact that the external disk was NTFS, and at some point, it had been removed from the computer by simply "yanking off the USB-cable". This caused the file system of the external disk to go "out of sync", which caused the disk to appear as readonly media (actually a pretty solid safety feature) and because of that nothing - including the collection files was getting on the disk. Reading from the disk was not affected, though.

The solution for fixing this was to run "check a drive for errors" with "automatically fix file system errors" on the external drive (using a Windows machine was a must; Mac tools were at a loss because of the NTFS).

Hope this helps... but as said, I'm not even remotely sure if this is even a similar problem.

I suffered this issue. the fix is easy and should be known by every user of this software. Copy the last saved 2.5.1 collection data to the traktor 2.5.1 folder. Delete the current version in the 2.5.1 folder not the version in the back up folder. restart traktor. you will then have the last saved everything as far as playlists.

the files are in your documents folders for both pc and mac users.

ultimately making sure traktor shuts down all the way will help make this a non issue but as i mentioned I went thru this even watching traktor "storing collection data" completed. shut down my machine and came back to it some hours later and all of my files were gone. this method restores your collection data also.

    hope this helps

    ok it works.
but every time i save the collection (manually or autostylee) a new "collectionnew" file is created. do i have to rename it every time i open traktor? good solution for now but it needs to be fixed for good somehow.

There is a way: When you are done with your playlist, export it and save it manually in a folder before closing Traktor. Then if its gone you just import it. BAM!

Still needs to be fixed tho, I can't imagine N.I. are comfortable with the situation as it is.

and i cant imagine how you get yourself in that trouble. please dont generalize!

might be a mac issue, but definitely not a general mac issue (lots of my traktor dj friends are on mac too and never reported this to me). and personallly, i've never seen it at all (but i'm on win, though).

I had this problem with the 'Collectionnew.nml' file being created.

I can't remember exctly how I resolved it, but the problem was that my current nml file was in one of the older Traktor version folders that were still on my computer and when it could not locate it it would create a new one.

I had multiple collection and backup files being created in each Traktor version folder.

I don't know how I got in that position but since fixing it the issue has not been repeated with any subsequent version of Traktor I have installed.

I posted my issue on here at the time but didn't get any help.

Sorry I can't be of more help but I remember I did spend some time making sure that all the paths were correct for the nml for the current version to eventually sort it out.
