I just got the new NI Essentials, checked battery 2 and posssibly found a "bug": If i load the "old jazz kit", the "Snare Mute Stick" (cell B3, rootkey C#) only respondes at very high velocities. After opening the map-tap, i found out, that the samples b03_cakmutstk_01 up to b03_cakmutstk_06 are missing! Only the samples b03_cakmutstk_07 and b03_cakmutstk_08 have been loaded! So i really got to hit the keyboard hard to get a sound.

After reinstalling the whole bundle, the error still occured. does anyone else discovered this problem?

did you check the the samples`folder?
the samples are on the disc, so it coud be
    they weren`t copied during installation.
i highly recommend not to use the inbuilt copy function
    of the installer.
copy the kit/missing samples by hand into the desired direction.
better go kit by kit, it is safer because of the huge
amount of files, with partially similar/same names.
    then it should work.

    thanks for your fast reply!

I checked the folder, the samples were right at their place. After i did what you told me, i copied the whole folder "Old Jazz Kit" from the DVD to my harddisk via clipboard, started battery 2 and it still doesn´t work! Again, i can see the samples in the folder named "Old Jazz Kit Samples" but i can´t play the first six. The samples occur in the windows explorer, but they can´t be triggered with mid and low velocities, only the two loudest samples are played. To me it looks like a programming mistake, but anyway, i don´t know.

i know why you don`t hear anything.
the reason is, the "missing" samples are pure silence.
they are on the disc, they load fine but there`s no
    sound in it.
i didn`t bother much with the delivered kits, i just did a quick
view to them, but this is quite embarassing.
    can you confirm that?

Confirmed here. There's nothing like good quality control testing, is there? And that's nothing like good quality control testing.

    Geniuses...

    Kind regards.

Got the same problem from day 1. these samples are just silent.

I also have / had to tweak the kit quite a lot. The snare drums sound rimshot- like on certain velocities. With round robin you get first a normal snare hit and when the 2nd pad is triggered a much more rim- shot sound. Have Just deleted that ones from the mapping and spread neighbouring samples to fill the gap. A bit sloppy recording / programming me thinks.

Also: I like the old jazz kit and I think it's quite unique. No other company has released a kit that is that close to what a jazz kit should be. However:

Some sounds are a little "flat", the snare could be cryspier and the toms more profound (round / sustaining). More rides would also be nice.

Couldn't the NI folks make and sell an updated and even better /extended kit?

Does anyone else find it as astonishing as I do that despite several visits from an NI product manager to this forum, he did not comment on this thread?

Is this kit going to be fixed? Does anyone care? Do *I* care anymore?

    Kind regards.

You've got to be kidding me? Mail them my Komplete 2 DVD to get six samples replaced? What are these people using to think with?

They have an Updates Manager that only registered users can access. Why can't they put a .zip file up that contains just the six fixed samples? A 1 Mb download, available only to legitimate owners.

Cheeses, why, oh why, do NI keep shooting themselves in both feet?

    Kind regards.
