I just uploaded two versions of OMega 2 Workstation to the User Library.

One is for desktops with a certain amount of horsepower.

    https://www.native-instruments.com/en/reaktor-community/reaktor-user-library/entry/show/13415/

As a point of reference, on my i9-9900K running at 5.1 GHz and 48kHz sample rate/1600Hz control rate I can run 8 instances at 48kHz utilizing 60% CPU using Windows 10 pro. (See picture below).

The other upload has some parts disabled via Instrument Mutes for those who can't run the full workstation. It uses much less CPU, but is missing a feature.

    https://www.native-instruments.com/en/reaktor-community/reaktor-user-library/entry/show/13417/

I would like to go over the history of this beast for those who are curious about such things.

About 10 years ago a group of Reaktor builders formed a group to make a set of macros for other builders based on some of the most interesting user uploads.

You can find these in the User Library by searching "rb macros".

After that group disbanded, I worked with Thomas Medes to make a synthesizer that was fully stereo with a good spread system for sounds and a lot of flexibility.

Each part in it is either a custom macro made by Thomas and myself, or something I chose from the 'rb macros' sets.

To fit everything on a small GUI, each part is contained in 'Viewers' - stacked macros of related sets of stuff. This took some time to perfect.

To make it easy to change things, every macro in the viewer is standardized.

That was eventually released several years ago as 'OMega'.

As I found that I could do more and more in a single-threaded Reaktor instance on the 9900K I started adding external effects to it to build a standalone workstation.

I took the 'rachToys' upload I had made earlier and added it into OMega 2. Then I took the sample maps from some of my other uploads (the auralis maps, for example, from 'MF Auralis').

I added a sample playback module and connected it to the OMega external input.

Then I added Twisted Tools BeatLooper as another playback and built a sample map for it using Battery.

Final connections are through SpaceMaster, from the Factory Library.

To make everything fit on my 3440x1440 display, I had to make a lot of GUI changes. I do not use the automatic panel layout as every instrument has a different size.

Finally, I added the Oblique Strategies deck for inspiration and a fractal MIDI note generator for self-playback and testing snapshot aesthetics.

Most things may be bypassed, and as much as practical, unused things don't use much CPU. Various 'autosnap' handlers are in different parts to play snapshots back in random ways as a form of sound installation.

The Voice setting is for 6 simultaneous notes. I don't need more than that, but you can change it if you like. The fractal note player only plays one note at a time (but you can copy and paste in more instruments if you like). Be careful of the various MIDI note routings to the instrument cluster.

I decided to release this on my birthday, March 15, so I worked hard on it the last few weeks to get it polished.

I found a number of bugs, and probably there are lots more.

I made quite a lot of new snapshots and incorporated some older snapshots made by Thomas and Paule into the workstation ensemble. I took some liberties in adding effects around their OMega 1 snapshots.

While I was working on these snapshots, the COVID-19 virus was dominating our public awareness, so I made some of these snapshots with that in mind.

For those who are sequestered due to the virus I offer this as a way to pass the time in isolation.

I did quite a lot of stress-testing at 192kHz and very high control rates with autosnapshot changes every second. This helped find a few bugs that may be due to race conditions or initialization problems.

It would take a huge manual to describe every one of the 2500 user panel settings. But every knob has an info text and a useful, practical default setting. Every non-obvious macro input and output is documented (I think).

The OMega 2 synth architecture is visible on the Synth instrument B view (NOT the OMega 2 ensemble B view).

All the instruments have a lot of snapshots, and many snapshots in the ensemble are designed to show off parts.

I did not make any sample snapshots except to show how it is done, as that part was added last. The samples have many interesting features - convolved sounds, MIDI-mapped GM drums, physical models, Goban samples, etc. The granular samples are made from Auralis. The Beatlooper samples were made using Battery.

Some of these samples are stereo, some are mono, some are looped, some were down-sampled from 96kHz originals. All are saved in the maps in 48kHz 24-bit WAV format.

I built this using Reaktor 6.3.1. Today I downloaded 6.3.2 and tested it and it runs fine.

Paule, I don't understand what this has to do with OMega 2?

Paule, I would be happy to add some snapshots.
When you are ready to work on it, let me know and I'll send you a latest version of OMega 2
I am working on this daily so there are a lot of small changes here and there.
I will upload a new version after I work on some sample-based snapshots.
I can include yours in it as well.

Hi Jim, I hope they works for you instead of my last production for MTS.
They are all done with my MMP. I start them after downloading Omega 2 to test MMP.

I like the Morph Position knob and fine adjusting with arrow keys. That's not possible in Reaktor's Morph/ Random section.
Or me don't know how. I don't use external hardware like keyboard with midi knobs - but this is okay for me.

The sample rate does not affect snapshots

I can't upload my version. The transfer is restricted to my cloud. Instead of count up in 5 or 10 mb steps it counts in 0.02 mb steps. Netflix and YouTube restrict their transfer also.
Okay the bastard is her son - my version.

Jim & Philippe next test with 17 ens snaps created with for OMega 2 (with muted SF) version.
All with MMP produced. During the setting some wants to over fluid. One crash at my system.
A load in Jim's version work quiet well and the cpu usage was lower except of one snap.

No overload here @ 44.1 kHz SR,1600 CR. Most CPU hungry are snaps #9, 16, 17.
