I'm kinda surprised to not have found much on this, so hoping this helps someone make an informed decision. I decided to get a mobile turntable for backyard and watching-the-kids-at-the-playground sessions. I settled on the OMNI after reading up on all the mods required to make a Numark or Reloop unit work. I read this thing even had DVS capabilities so my choice was sealed.

The unit comes pretty much ready to rock, and after some fiddling in MacOS Monterey and a lot of help from the maker I got the internal soundcard aggregated and working for timecode in Traktor 3. Since the unit itself has a pair of 18650 batteries installed I only need to plug one USB-C cable from the deck's soundcard to the Macbook Air and we're off and scratching with low latency timecode, down to MIDI mapped faders. The tiny speaker is actually respectably loud but I think I'll need a half decent portable speaker like a Beats Pill for outdoors.

I only wish I could get it working with the iPad Pro M1, but apparently there are OS limitations plus the Traktor iOS/iPadOS app doesn't support DVS....

You mean you want Traktor to work on your iPad like this. ;)

Dj player pro is the only program I know that will work with dvs on iOS but not that good with Traktor time code.

That’s a cute little turntable you have there

Yeah I actually tried DJPP but the M1 ipad pro detects only sound OR MIDI in from the USB-C cable so timecode no worky. My iPad pro is a 13 same as my Macbook Air though, so either one fits in my little portablist go bag. I even tried DJPP on my iPhone but way too small a screen to be useful.

Hopefully this doesnt break any rules but this little IG reel shows how slick the scratch action is. Not timecode in this one but with lowest latency Traktor3 feels really close. The faders are MIDI capable and super loose, feels like the Rane TTM 56 with spring mod.

Looks like you found your perfect toy judging by your video.

I actually use Djpp for bars and live streaming. I like it cause I can route a mic and sampler though it and it’s very stable. The graphics could use some work though.

I guess I should clarify I'm not even gigging anymore lol, but if I did I'd still take an S4 over this setup, for the input and routing you mentioned. Totally for fun nowadays, teaching my daughters about scratching. I was surprised at the power behind DJPP, and a little more than a little disappointed the traktor ios apps aren't as capable....

That’s cool you’re trying to get you kids to scratch.

I used the tdj2 app with my s2 for two streaming sessions. I was surprised that I could use a mic with it. It’s ok but I find I have to practice a lot more just to get used to the app. The s2 doesn’t work the same on tdj2 as it does with TP.

The new iPads are now capable of running Traktor pro in all it’s glory. Hopefully it eventually happens and all of us can enjoy portable power.
