    Hey 2.0 early adopters :)

Well, everything is on the thread title: Can we now with 2.0 select the pad/group color directly from the controller?

    Thanks!

I too have looked all over for this and as an MK2 owner, looks like the answer's no.

Well, that would mean we still have things to get for version 2.1 :)

yeah that would be a really nice function, because i't would keep you far far away from using the ugly mouse on the ugly computer. i love hardware, coming from mpc's like the 2000, 2000 XL and things like the legendary S950 12bit sampler :)

this is silly. i dont own a mk2 or studio. but if i did, i would want the led colors to be easily changeable. this shouldnt be a chore.

I agree there should be a way to do it from the hardware, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be less of a chore. I know the popular idea around here is to act like the mouse is poison but some stuff is just more quickly and easily done with a few clicks than a series of combo button presses and knob turns.

pad mode, hold pad, knob turn. way easier than reaching for your mouse and clicking 2-3 times.

even better if you do the selection directly with the 16 pads (for the 16 colors), you would just have to do a combo keys and choose the color, done in less than a second with 2 hands, combo, selection, done!

Even if you have some Pad Mode+ another key (Select?) and press a "Color Palette" button on the top menu buttons and then select the one we want with the 16 pads... a gesture on the controller, regardless how complex it could be, will still be faster than grab your mouse and clic. It's all about non-disruptive workflow and muscle memory.

I have no problem to use the mouse to select some events, move them, etc... because it's way easier and faster with the mouse than with the controller. But for simpler things, I'd rather use the controller only... And even more when I see a choice of 16 possible colors and then I see 16 pads in the middle on the controller. To me, it would make just perfect sense to use them for that matter :)

    My 2¢

Even the MPC Ren out the gate with v1.0 let you color the pads from the hardware (albeit only 4) so NI could do it.. they just haven't.

true, but the ren in my opinion is a piece of **** :)

akai and their mpc's failed for me after releasing the low quality build models 500/1000/2500/5000.

the older models last for years, the newer ones starting to have problems with the tact switches after only a year. i own a lot akai stuff, so no hating. just my opinion about the awful quality of the components they're using. dont want to own a studio or a ren. i prefer my mk2.
