    Just thought of something that may be great for the forum community (if you guys like it). As I see, there are alot of different beatmakers here that cater to (or production focus) in a variety genres. I witness a bunch on non productive bickering throughout the forum and figured rather than bicker, why not battle. Now i know the forum has the all around beat battle, which is great, but I figured why not take it up a notch and do 1 on 1 battles and Squad (team) battles. As far as the 1 on 1, there could be brackets say starting with 20 pairs and battle that down to a One grand champion.
    The Squad battles would consist of 4 beatmaker teams that produce one track together and there would be 10 teams, with again, one grand champion team.

    it would be cool if NI corporate could sponsor it. Good branding and marketing for Maschine and other NI products but if not maybe the community can just do 1 on 1's personally, like Challenge battles

    @Keir @ NI @Thomas D @ NI , @b-righteous @sowari What do you guys think. Just a thought

    Yeah, but a majority are not interested in that. It's more what the hottest piece of hardware is and nothing to do with music making imo. Would be cool though.

    ...it would be really cool to have a more productive and collaborative forum - my impression is that gossiping has recently gotten the upper hand a bit. I would really like to collaborate with some people, but I fear another competition would draw attention from the monthly Beat Battles, that already have a hard time getting the attention they, IMO, deserve. But why not start something like this for fun and see where it might lead to - apparently forums are allowed to organise themselves:D...

    its a cool idea, you could even make the box smaller by defining the sample set, say a beat based on some specific old school record, or one of the expansion packs... this would work particularly well for the 1 on 1
    /end

    its now twice in one week i have agreed with a post of yours.. wtf is going on?.. :D

    Yeah, @Mystic38 that is a cool parameter you are suggesting to say, use a specific expansion or specific kit as that would level the playing field at the door and where they go from there would be their choice.

    I kind of figured that the community would be able to come up with great suggestions to make this a worthwhile endeavor for all on the forum. Hopefully more will provide input and be interested.

    ...that would actually be really interesting and would make things easier comparing the results. And it would force the participants to come up with some interesting arranging/processing/mangling techniques...

    thats the real question instead of deflecting NI need to be accountable for squandering their market lead; I would not say they have lost the lead but they fumbling real hard right now

    I don't think they have lost the lead at all. APperently there are mad problems and features that are still unavailable on the push that Maschine has had for ever. Plus the push is ******* **** quality. The pads in it are like rock hard, the sensitivity is *****, I dunno man I'm not as pissed as I was when the lame update came out. Because I realize now, those guys are still behind.

    I almost posted a similar suggestion in the official Battle thread, but as I had just joined the thread, didn't want to impose my ideas.

    I think it's a really valid approach, for the reasons already mentioned. Not sure how you'd get around somebody not having a suggested sound pack though? I think a sample(s) that anyone can access via the interweb might be an alternate starting point.

    Some other ideas: There's a lot of ground to cover when learning how to create a song from start to finish. Battles that focus on various aspects could be an interesting way to develop those skills. So for example, one where the main criteria is Arrangement or say Structure. After, participants could discuss why they made the choices they did, and we could actually learn something from each other. Modulation or FX could be another one, as could Drum programming or Harmonic/melodic development. Another interesting challenge could be hybrid genres.

    These are just some thoughts...
