Oops!. I think I bought the wrong thing.

Ok so I recently got a email from NI about the holiday specials.

Buy the Audio 6 or 10 and get a free software upgrade.

I overlooked the fact that the upgrade is a free upgrade to Traktor Pro. I need Traktor Scratch Pro. So I just spend $279 on the Audio 6 which comes with a free Traktor Pro upgrade.

Should I return it?

Can I use the Audio 6 with Tracktor scratch pro? Can I buy a upgrade to go from pro to scratch pro?

Would it be cheaper for me to just return everything and start over with my purchase?

 

You can audio 6 with TSP. When you bought the audio 6, did that come with Traktor Scratch Duo?

I bought just the audio interface. The audio 6. NI is having a special that if you buy just the audio 6 it comes with a free Traktor Pro software upgrade. I didnt realize that I need Traktor Scratch Pro2.

So Can I buy the Traktor Scratch pro2 upgrade and use it with the Audio 6?

Or would I save money by just returning everything and buying Traktor Scratch Pro2?

I dont need all 10 inputs so thats why I got the Audio 6 to save money and not spend money on something I dont need.

given how NI's current promos are, it actually makes a lot of sense for you to upgrade to TSP2 by purchasing the "S4 Scratch Upgrade Kit." despite its name, that kit will work for people that own both TP2 as well as a certified audio interface such as the TA6.

if you do the math, it is very attractive financially... unless you specifically need the TA10, i would go for it!

But your right about the promos and financially smart to go about it this way. I just want to make sure I am able to get what I want without having to spend more than I would have if I bought TSP2 as a full package.

The s4 traktor pro software is no different than any other traktor pro software.

 

I know but it says that to qualify for the upgrade you need to own the S4 (hardware), there is other upgrade for the soundcards owners that costs more than twice.

it seems its like a "secret feature.." that the s4 works ...

 

I agree with you. NI should make this more transparent. Karlos has started to spread the information about this particular upgrade path in the forums for some time. But still, there must be many users out there which don't have a clue about it.

you need both. it's just that if you buy a new TA6 before the end of this year, it comes with a free TP2 license. it's a promotion NI is currently running.

 

exactly and you can upgrade from TP2 to TSP2 with the S4 upgrade kit regardless if you own a S4 or not. All you need is a registered version of TP2.

 

actually this info is making you pay more than you need to pay. the s4 upgrade kit is 140 right? will you can upgrade you software with the audio 6 for 80.00 ... that's what i did

I bought the Audio 6 brand new from NI for $280.

The S4 kit I got online (brand new) for $75 (yay ebay!)

So I now will have TSP2 with Audio 6 for a total of $400 roughly.
