I know i can open maschine inside of of Logic as a VST. Has anyone been able to open Logic plugins inside of maschine standalone. I would like to use Logic's EQs inside of maschine standalone havent been able to figure it out yet.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

you can only open Logic plugins in Logic.

use the multi- out version of Maschine and create some AUX Channesl in Logic and send
the Outputs of Groups and Sounds from Maschine to these AUX Channels. then you can use Logic's FX on the Maschinne Sounds.

Thanks ! Yeah i do what you said a above some. When i open maschine as a vst in logic my mac book pro runs so slow sometimes it will not open the project so i was trying to get out of doing that. Basicly, i was just trying to open logics plugins in maschine due to performance issues. I really like running maschine like you said , its just runs so poorly on my mac that i usuallly only use logic for mastering.

i take it that your Mac is a few years old?

btw, you open Maschine as an AU in Logic - not VST.

another workaround is to 'Drag n Drop' the Audio from Maschine into Logic and then remove the Maschine plugin.

    Sowari,

yeah my mac book pro is prolly 5yrs old. Is there an option to open it as an AU? I just assumed i it was a vst.. Maybe AU is the only way to do it? I do drag stuff in to logic some , mostly i just do everything in maschine.
I have thought about getting a new computer sometime soon.

Logic only opens Audio Unit - AU - plugins.

and yes, I think you need a new Mac ;)

You think just a new macbook pro would be good? Ive been looking at IMacs. I have a maschine mikro & maschine running on a macbook pro. Was thinking about a 13inch macbook pro since i just keep it closed and hooked up to a larger monitor.

New mac is on the list for sure!
    Thanks for the help..

I'd do a quad-core mac, as I have the top-tier 2.9 ghz. 13" and it still can't handle too many instances of Massive or Reaktor-

what sound card are you using?

and what is your Audio buffer size in Logic? i presume you are using Logic X?

Massive should not be a problem on a Mac like yours - and some Reaktor Ensembles don't use that much CPU whilst others such as PolyPlex and Rounds do.

I have been using Maschine in standalone for a couple years on two different computers. I have made many different live sets, and figured out a safe max. Anything more than this and I get CPU spikes that result in minor audio cracks. Once I load this into logic, and route it through tracks in there, I have to shave off a few of the effects to avoid further CPU usage. I am assuming it is normal for a my computer If you can figure out how I can do more, than I'm all ears! :)

I currently use my computer's output, though I am considering a Traktor Audio 2 (I do tons of live gigs, and need a portable sound card.) Buffer size in Maschine is 512, though I just noticed that Logic's is at 128. Hmm..

Groups 1 & 2: Maschine drum or percussion groups , 16 sounds, each group having one instance of Supercharger GT and maybe two Maschine effects, like beat delay and reverb.

Group 3: 1 instance Massive or Absynth Bass synth, with Supercharger GT and a Maximizer

Group 4: 2 Maschine sampler instruments (A couple pianos or whatever) Maximizer, Maschine Reverb and Beat Delay

Group 5: 2 instances of alchemy synth, Kontakt, or another NI plug in. All Kontakt effects disabled, and Maschine effects applied instead to save CPU.

Id really like to get my Maschine projects to have more instrument options w/o CPU overload, and being able to run more thorough Logic to multitrack record live sets would be even better, so I totally welcome any ideas you have.

@soulbrilliance fyi, i use a buffer size of 512 in Logic.

also when i use my Komplete Audio 6 or MOTU UltraLite mk3, i can use more plugins without issues. to be honest, although the Mac's soundcard is reasonably good, you should be using a standalone Audio Device for gigs. for live performances i use the NI Komplete Audio 6.

Yeah! I switched to 512 (which is what I use for everything else!) the second I saw that it was at 128 (!)

The reason I recommend the quad core is that even though I am doing everything right in Maschine, I still always hit the ceiling because I want to use my VST's live, and bouncing is not an option.

It never hurts to have more cores and more screen real estate.

I am definitely going to get the Audio 2. Apparently Tech Support says the same processors and converters as their bigger models!
