My friend left his Miko over at my studio and asked me to upgrade it for him. I opened it looked inside and started thinking about revamping it and customizing the hell out of it. I'm thinking about taking out the typing keyboard the 5 faders and mounting a Maschine MKII in place. I'm gonna put this thing like a pig lmao. I will post pictures of my efforts as I go. ALso gonna try and put a swivel on the 15 inch touch display so the screen can be at an angle. Crazy project this should be some fun.

Well the first thing is getting the drivers from OpenLabs. I will be replacing the motherboard with an ASUS Maximus V Gene LGA 1155 Intel Z77 and installing a Intel i7 3770K. I messaged the tech for the drivers so hopefully he responds today. This is gonna be fun. I am thinking about cutting out a piece of the back to put water cooling but haven't decided on that yet. I just have a feeling getting these Windows drivers are gonna be like pulling teeth. I hope not cross your fingers.

Let me know if you are able to get drivers. I'm trying to update to windows 7 and I need the openlab drivers. I've also submitted a ticket. I hope they don't respond back with 'Buy our Windows 7 upgrade'

Just got a response from Open Labs. 99.00 for the Drivers.

Ok got the drivers now just waiting on the motherboard processor and ram. I will obviously not be adding a videocard lol. I can't wait to do this! Make this damn thing worth something again. Not that it completely sucks it's just a little out dated. i7 3770K with 16GB of ram! 64Bit Maschine Komplete 9 and Ableton Live 9 ummmmm ummmm good!

Somewhat of an off topic question...

Have you had success using water cooling with a DAW before? I've entertained the idea in the past but avoided it as I've heard that while they do a great job cooling, they don't tend to be very quiet.

Yeah I actually have a Corsair H100 in my desktop. You can actually use whatever fans you want for it. You can just replace the stock fans with quieter ones.

Almost done! I had to make new Motherboard connectors sheesh..... They don't have the normal case to mobo connectors in the Miko. I just clipped some cables from a old case then cut the wires and soldered them together and put some electrical tape. Now I have to get a hard drive converter to mount this SSD in here and I will be ready to boot up. Then once I boot I will start to clean up the wiring.

It's actually almost finished. OpenLabs is a horrible company I don't suggest buying anything from them at all. Getting information is like pulling teeth. They are going to be surprised because they tried to talk me out of doing it lol. This thing is better than the new one they came out with hands down. SSD and 2 TB of storage. I'm doing installs now so after that I will screw in the drives and tidy up the wires and take pictures. But here is one to show you I'm in the building hahaha. #NERDGANG I eat Apples.

Were you able to utilize the Maschine hardware in the design?

Naw I didn't do it. I got pissed with OpenLabs. They suck. I had to really figure everything out myself with this box. That's all it is really. Still didn't get the right touchscreen drivers from them. I would like to line up all there emplyees and slap the hell out of them.

    Open Labs Miko

    Good Afternoon,

I'm new here and just got a Miko a few weeks ago and I'm looking to see if I can get some help with something. The one I have seems to not be registering the keyboard and master control. I have the Timberland Edition. Is this a simple fix and is there anyone who can possibly help me with doing an update once this is fixed? If so I'd really appreciate it. Vinceprice I would love some advice from you since you seem like you are an expert in this area...
