The best solution you will ever find: Buy a macbook pro with osx
i use an acer laptop windows 7, but know from experience that i am always at risk. Windows will always let you down sooner or later. And can you imagine djing for the first time in a big club and you exactly on that day you forgot to switch off your wifi. Windows will punish you right away and so will the crowd. Windows is s...

after 9 years of finalscratch/traktor (scratch) on 3 different windows computers (with different windows versions), let me put my thoughts to your posting together in a single word: BLA.

a simple look into the forum shows that we have as many OSX users with problems as win users. absolutely makes no difference whatsoever.

On the contrary, I see far more complaints here and elsewhere from Windows users - this very thread is evidence enough. There is a noticeable difference between ASIO on Windows and CoreAudio on Mac which quickly becomes obvious as soon as you start using Traktor on a Mac.

That's not to say that Windows can't perform well, but things just run that bit more smoothly on my Air than on my Windows machines.

    I agree.

    (a) Windows users can tell that Traktor is a Mac application ported to Windows, rather than vice versa, from the way things like text entry works, and that it uses almost no native Windows libraries. For example ctrl+arrow on any Windows control would move the cursor forwards a word at a time. Traktor is Mac code to the lowest possible level, which makes sense as it maximizes the code shared between platforms. However I think NI's drivers are the weak points, Traktor itself is solid in my experience.

    (b) It is much easier to write drivers highly dependent on hardware for Macs, as you can test on every single permutation of the hardware and fix by trial and error, whereas on Windows you have to write according to hardware standards so that the drivers are device-agnostic. Traktor is written in the former way. It can get away with this on Macs simply by trial and error on the few models that exist.

It is not Windows' fault however. I have a controller that is 100% reliable on Windows every time I connect it - and I've heavily customized it, and used it intensively for 9 months - because it is written to standards rather than trial and error.

Ok I stand corrected, but the sound quality from these videos can hardly tell us if Windows is performing well for her. You better listen to this where I am using windows, but like I said: you cant trust windows in the long run so the best advice to people who really want to get serious about DJing is to use OSX - meaning you can just focus on actual DJing without having to worry about your equipment when it comes to the computer side of things.

This is not true, my Windows Traktor setup has not failed once in a year of heavy use, since replacing my S4 with a Denon MC 3000, and my Windows laptop is a boilerplate (fairly powerful) Dell set to very low latency, full of hundreds of random bits of software, heavy development environments (Android, .net, linux..), virtual servers, all manner of admin services, shonky drivers, IDEs, DAWs, numerous sound card drivers, etc, nothing has never been reinstalled. Every time I DJ I connect the USB cable, start Traktor, and play music, and it works flawlessly, first time, and for the duration of my playing.

    you made my Day! :D
That whole religious disussions what OS/Hardware is the best, and saying per se that a mac is better: bo'shi....
Just ask Tim Pritlove if he had issues with audiogear and mac os - you won't belive :p

I ain't a MS fanboi either (trust me, my other Profession requires a lot of knowledge of MS-Stuff), but a clean and neat administrated System without useless toolbars and idiotic scarewareantivirusbougus or other useless c##p is rather useable then any other luxory Rig.
Trust me, i know what I'm talking about.

and I'm sorry if i got OT, but I had the urge to tell you that...

now, who has some serious Problems?

my friends I found a small program that fixes the latency issues from Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 RTM.
Just open the program and press hide. after this run DPC latency checker and you'll see only green bars.
    download it from here:
