So when I bought traktor scratch DUO the guy at guitar center told that the Ortofon Serator S-120's would work well with the Timecoded vinyls. after installing the S-120's I found that a high pitched bleeding noise was coming from the cartridges. So i took them back thinking that because they were made for serato that must be the problem. So i returned them and picked up a set of Ortofon Pro DJ S's only to find the same sound has been reoccuring I even find my tracks going backwards and then going forwards and then backwards again.. PLease help so frustrated just want to spin :)

The High pitched noise coming from teh Carts IS the timecode.. if you hear it thru your speakers, you have to double(triple) check your decks and audio connexions

Yep. it's the noise of the needle on the timecode coming straight to your ears

going backwards means you haven't connected the L-R channels correct, about the noise, you probably haven't connected the cables to the mixer right.
    generally check all your connections...

or maybe you just connected l to r and r to l?

dust on the vinyl?, dust on the stylus? wrong calibaration?

I use Ortofon Digitechs now and again just because I like the loudness and the accuracy but I run Stanton Turntables in my studio.
Ortofon cartridges have a bad habit of breaking connections on anything but Technics tone arms, it's almost as though they were engineered for nothing but the best lol.
aside from checking all of your cabling and ensuring you arent Pumping the Phono Channel with your Timecode though might be an issue you should look at.
The Multicore cables make your life easier but only if you have them connected right.

also there is a fair amount of needle draw noise produces by ortofon needles though I have never heard it come through the PA or Monitors, how loud is the sound? and does it ring through your monitors?

also have you examined the possibility that the issue could be in part your decks? ie. Tone arms, Pre amp, line hooks, grounding clamps, etc.?

Yes I am using two 1210 M5G's so I should'nt be having the tone arm problem

the bleeding has definitely gotten better since i took the S-120's back for the Pro DJ S's although I'm still having the problem with skipping and tracks constantly going backwards. on traktor it does say Vinyl 15 Min even though there supposed to be 17 minutes long and says Calibration failed.

check your balancing (weight), anti-skate, tonearm height and orientation against the specs in the cartridges manual/spec sheet

are you tables old? the contacts on the inside might have alot of old carbon and dirt on them, i know this is a 100% no no, but try it out anyways. lick the cartridge contacts then try to calibrated it. if it turns out to be the fix, get your arse down to the nearest hardware store and pick up some Caigs Deoxite!

my virtual decks use to play in reverse for that exact reason, failed calibration due to dirty contacts inside the tonearm.

There brand new two 1210 m5G's. How do you calibrate them because traktor does say failed calibration the pictures of the statit vinyls are almost only dots.

calibrating is just playing the record, sorry if i made it sound like it could be done manually.

have you tried licking them then playing them just to X it off the list of could be problems? worth a shot, even tho they are brand new since what your explaining sounds like bad contacts.

are you using concord or OM ortofons?

Check your Audio8 control panel and make sure it's set to timecode vinyl.

I'm using the ortofon dj pro S's, is it possible it could be the RCA wires because when I first bought traktor one of the technics would correspond and after plugging and unplugging the RCA wires that came with traktor it then synced up. I do find that when it goes backwards if I unplug the RCA wires and plug them in backwards (white to red & red to white) it works properly for awhile. Is it possible to take back the traktor duo box back for another one even after iv registered the serial number
