OS X 10.11 El Capitan Beta - Do not install

I can report that the issues with LOGIC X 10.1.1 and 3rd party VST's still exists in the Public Beta 5 of El Capitan 10.11. AuValTool doesn't validate 3rd party plugins like Native Instruments Komplete Ultimate 10. I'm guessing this is an Apple issue but thought I'd want to make you all aware before installing El Capitan.

 

Correct. Pretty much a shame, considering that Logic Pro is from the "mothership" itself *sigh*. That's waiting for beta 6...

 

FYI: Problem persists in today's beta version.

 

Fun. Apparently it's still present in the GM candidate and it doesn't look like Apple is going to do something about it. So, who's next? :/

 

Same issue... I even tried a delete and re-install as well. I used the feedback assistant built into the beta to supply the information along with screen caps to Apple. I should have known better but hopefully someone either finds an answer or apple fixes it on the public release.

 

same here...can't work without this plugins and instruments. Still wait for any fix!

 

Since there are indeed 3rd-party VSTs that auvaltool validates (e.g. S-Gear and Zebra) and it's only NI and Waldorf (here, that is), Apple might not be the culprit (other than tightening the validation rules without telling anyone...)?

 

Maschine, Komplete Kontrol and Arturia's V Collection crash the scan on LPX.2 and El Capitan. I a m rolling back.

here's how this problem was handled:
1. I created a small partition (60GB) on an external HDD
- downloaded and installed Mavericks system
-installed on it LPX (10.2.0)
-installed NI kontakt/Massive/Battery 4
-test the functionality
- all OK
2. I created a new folder (FIX) in Mavericks and put in the following:
- components NI kontakt/Massive/Battery 4
-NI kontakt VST/Massive/Battery 4
user/library/caches folder AudioUnitCache
-HD/library/caches file: com.apple.Components2.LocalCache.AudioComponents
3.I returned to El Capitan GM and replaced all the files with the files from the folder (FIX)

Doing this fixed the problem for me! cog

Running the GM on my Mac Mini, updated from Yosemite. I did a clean install of El Capitan beta 1 on my Macbook Pro which is probably why I never had problems with Kontakt, even up till now with DP8.

 

Got a reply from NI support. They are aware and working with Apple to fix the LPX plugin scan issue.

 

Logic X user. Kontakt & Arturia not validating for me. Everything else OK (Spectrasonics, AAS, Modartt, Toontrack, Spire, Synapse Dune2 etc.)

 

New Beta is out 10.11.1. Problem not solved!

"Hello,
today i found a way to fix the problem when Logic Pro crashes/hangs while scanning the Audio Units.
This is going to be a little complicated.
On OS X 10.11 El Capitan Apple implemented the new version of Audio Unit (3), many plugins do not pass the validation.
To validate them Logic uses a programm called auvaltool. I replaced it with an older version (can be found online) and everything works fine after rescanning.
Before you can replace the auvaltool you have too disable the new "System Integrity Protection", which is one of the new el capitan features and protects system files from beeing modified (like the auvaltool).

1. Disable System Inegrity Protection by rebooting into recovery partition. Then open Utilities-> Terminal (Shell comand window)
type in "csrutil disable", without the "" and press enter
to restart your mac type in "reboot" and press enter

2. Download old version of auvaltool, for example from here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4081659?tstart=0

3. Open Finder, click on Go To -> Got to folder and type in "/usr/bin" (without the "")

4. Search for the file auvaltool and make a copy of it to your desktop (if something wents wrong)

5. replace auvaltool in the /usr/bin folder with the one you downloaded in step 2

6. Restart Logic, Open empty project, Go to Settings-> Plugin-Manager. Select not validated plugins ant click on rescan

That's a really old version if auvaltool though - might have more luck with a pre Capitan version from Logic X so just go to /usr/bin before updating to El Capitan and copy the auvaltool from there, then overwrite it with that version after the update

 

from yosemite or maverics - i think it's okay

 

Better than the one from Lion (from that link) anyway
