Kore 1 controller driver 2.5.2 Mac

The read this states"The package installs a Beta version of the Mac driver (version 2.5.1) for KORE 1 Controller.

This version works around a problem with audio signal degradation related to OS X 10.8 and 10.7.4 with USB 3.0 of the Early 2012 MacBook Air/Pro models.
For users of other OS X versions it is not necessary to install these drivers."

But the controller driver is just for the midi controller isn't it? Generally the audio driver is this one:

"NI Hardware Driver 2.2.15 - Mac OS X for Audio Kontrol 1, Kore 1 and 2 Controller, Rig Kontrol 2 and 3"

The announcement is confusingly worded - is this an issue that only affects USB3 ports or does it affect USB2 as well under Mountain Lion?

I'd say it affects audio with the USB3 ports on Early 2012 Air/Pro models only. If you don't have one of those models then I can't think that there would be any issues.

I've not found any issue with 2011 MacBook Pro and Kore 1 controller on Snow Leopard or Lion.

I don't frequent this forum much any more, but I read this post and thought to chime in...

I upgraded my late-2011 MBP (w/ USB 2.0 ports) to Mountain Lion OS X 10.8 a week ago. The Kore 1 drivers 2.4.23 do not work with Mountain Lion, so I applied the beta 2.5.1 drivers.

Up until today, the only odd behavior I'd encountered occurred previewing audio on websites such as eMusic, Amazon, etc. (using the current version of Safari) where the preview would simply no longer play. This happened randomly - a few times - over the course of the week. A quick hot-plug of the USB cable to Kore 1 would remedy the issue.

Today I accidentally 'jiggled' the USB cable to the Kore 1 interface while reaching across my desk and the MBP crashed and rebooted. Following the restart I tried to resume play from the same track in iTunes and the crash/reboot reoccurred. I reinstalled the 2.5.1 drivers following the 2nd restart and all was back to normal.

Submitted a bug report to NI with the crash log included. Probably a side affect of the previously mentioned hot-plug of the USB interface over the past week. Looking forward to the next iteration of the beta drivers, but for the most part they are working without issue with Kore 1 and related NI software w/ ML. Note: I've not yet tested Maschine or my Audio 2 DJ, but I did test Traktror and it too is working. Hope this helps.

The problem is the statement is rather ambiguously worded.

"Native Instruments has conducted compatibility tests with its hardware products under OS X 10.8, connected to USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports of both recent and current-generation Mac computers. Some NI products are experiencing a degraded audio signal caused by USB driver issues present in Mac OS X 10.8. The same issues are also present under Mac OS X 10.7.4 on current-generation Macbooks with USB 3.0".

So they say the tests were run on USB2 and 3 ports and the problems are present with the USB drivers on Mountain Lion, it doesn't sound like it is just a USB 3 problem.

Some clarification from NI would be useful - I am planning to upgrade soon and would like to know if I should install the beta or not. And if so which one as that isn't clear either as it's referred to as a Kore controller driver (which is usually for the midi controller, not the audio driver). This would be on a recent MacMini with USB2 ports.

I just fixed my problem after months of not using it by going to

Utilities -> audio midi setup -> KORE 1 (or w/e)

and changing from 44100.0 Hz to either 48000Hz or 96000Hz (96000Hz works a little better in my case)
