Found at gearspace forum which get the specs pics from elektronauts forum but also at Roland forums too.

    Rumour/leak points towards 600$/€.

    Discuss.

It seems price isn’t clear (I read it somewhere) so take it as “between this and that”. Also the chip shortage could change it…

Nice definitely interested, I like that they’ve added an iOS app too.

For us Sp404sx heads this thing looks amazing! Skip back sampling as well? If this thing has the same filters as the 303 or even the 404 this will be a must buy for us underground hip-hop vinyl addicts!

edit: If this thing has the same vinyl sim filter as the newer sp’s. I must say it will be a deal breaker for me. I want the classic 303 sound! Newer functions don’t mean a thing to experienced sp users. We’ve been on these machines for decades…

    peace

Been reading online that this “leak” was no accident. Just a marketing technique to lure in pre-orders

I’m curious to see what this new “DJ mode” is, and if there will be any new upgrades to the sequencer. Will we be able to make full beats on this thing? Not that the limits of the older SP’s kept us from making full beats. 16 pads is a huge improvement. I like the customizable faceplates, but the black sleek look of this thing stock will look dope next to the black MK3.

I’ve read all the specs, and it looks like there will be a lot of new features. Curious to see how good the screen is for editing samples! That’s a huge improvement in being able to actuality chop from the screen rather than the good old mark button, and doing it by ear lol.

I still love my sp404sx, and have always wanted 2 Sp’s. Unfortunately finding a 303 these days is a little pricey. I’m hoping to the roland gods that this thing has the same sound/same effects as it’s predecessors like the original 303 or 404.

It does mention new effects like the cassette tape effect which I think will bring back that classic 303 warmth/crunch.

Roland is teasing us with this thing man, and I hope it’s everything we’ve wanted in an SP!

If Mr.Dibiase gets one, and reviews it first, and likes it. Roland will be selling these things like no tomorrow.

He is the Sp Master! I will wait for his review. I don’t want to commit to a new SP unless it has been approved by a legendary beat maker. People still rock the 303’s, 404’s etc…and make great music.

If paying 500$ just to be able to edit from the screen is all that really has changed. It will be disappointing. The sequencer needs to be better, but not so complicated that it deters people.

That’s my biggest concern, is that Roland out did themselves, and put too many new features on this thing possibly complicating the original workflow of it’s successors.

Seems cool, but this just confirms to me that this new mk2 format is going to be “meh” and editing/menu diving from the new screen is going to be a nightmare!

Really an App!? Roland out did themselves. So many new features.. Sp’s shouldn’t be this complicated. That’s what made all previous versions great! Simplicity

This mk2 is def geared towards new consumers. Put as many bells, and whistles into this thing, slap a new screen on it, make an app, DJ mode (lol) and BOOM 500$ PLEASE!

Ya…..NO. I will stick to my original 404 and keep it moving.

The only good thing about a new roland sp is that it will make all previous discontinued models more desirable! Prices on the 303, 404, and even Sx have increased considerably in the last year or so.

If the new sounds lofi maybe the olds get priced right finally. It’s nuts found sp555 around 400€ and 404 over that (even the hype seems some users are selling them to get the mk2).

Let’s see what it brings but Sp404 never were targeted to hiphop in first place. These were backing tracks machines for guitarrists (like zooms). 555 was focused towards djs and 606 as small brother from mv8800 mixed with “impoved” (to Roland idea of improvement) on 505… which was Boss, not Roland (the guitarrist division…)

So these were a mix between backing track (now filled by Rc line improvements) and easy chopping tools/crappy sequencers. Maybe they are trying to fix that and compite with novations, digitakts and Mpc One… we will see anyways.
