    I still use both 1.8 and 2.2. :p

I was merely comparing the Elektron workflow with the Maschine workflow. Yes there are things that are easier on Elektron boxes (I particularly like being able to input notes via my keyboard) but there are things you can do on Machine which are not even possible with the Elektron boxes (well at least not the Monomachine).

As for the difference between Maschine 1.8 and 2.0 step modulation functionality I don't really have a preference (I tend to work with what I have got) but I agree that having the option would be the ideal solution.

being that you use both, which one is easier or quicker?

If you are talking purely about the step mod difference between 1.8 and 2.2 then it depends what you wish to achieve at any particular time. If you want extended modulation 1.8 gives you that and if you want "blip" modulation 2.2 gives you that. Not sure it is a case of one being easier or quicker than the other. Obviously having both options would be nice.

I had to re read this thread 4 times before I grasped the concept but now I get it.

basically to do step modulation in 2.2

    1) do your step sequence
    2) SELECT pad you want to step modulate
    3) click GRID, under STEP, change to desire modulation step length
    4) Watch your step sequence, select starting point by pressing on the desired pad
    5) Tweak parameter while pad is pressed

    yay

Yes that's basically it, and it can be a very powerful tool in the right hands. All maschine owners should take the time to learn this.

This thread really made my weekend.

Coming from elektron I was missing this feature.

    :)

Thanks guys. Dropping replika on snares and hi hats and step modulate on the grid 1/4. Awesome
