    Greetings,

My first post after completing the build of a my new system.

    Intel 925 Chipset (Intel board)
    Intel 560 (Pentium 4 3.6G)
    4 GIG PC5300 DRAM2
    nVidia GF6800 PCI Express
    WD SATA Drives
    Antec Neo Power
    Echo Layla 24
    Powercore PCI
    UAD1

Starting Cubase SX3 and all is fine. Upon loading Battery 2 (which seems to take AGES), all is also fine.

However, upon loading ANY kit into Battery 2, I am given the message "System Memory / Resources is running low, are you sure you want to load?" That is not the exact message to the word but close enough I think.

I continue to load and all works fine. In fact I can then load another Battery 2 and even have 2 full versions of the big sticks kit runinng (after OK-ing the previous error)

Please note that I have FOUR GIG of RAM. AT least 2.6 of which is available to Windows.

I have nothing significant running in the background and this is a clean install.

My message to the developers really: Is there some erronious report of low memory going on here?

    Anyone else experienced this?

    Best regards,

    Phil.

    yes yes and YES!

The system requirements do not say you need tons of ram, but if you have 4 gigs........IT'S A BUG!

Or if it's a response from tech support, you'll need to turn off hyperthreading and optimize for audio.........oh, how funny, I didn't see the WARNING WE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH P4'S label before bying.

yea, a little tired of standard cliche responses like none of know better.

Old Host Behaviour (and others) make no difference

    Hello all,
    Just to let you know,
I am pretty sure this is a bug.

I have tried enabling old host behaviour and it made no difference at all. Incidentally, old host behaviour is meant for VSTi that are not VST2.3 standard... Battery V2 is Vst 2.3 where as Battry V1 is not.

So old host should really only be enabled for Battery v1.

As mentioned I have 4 GIG of RAM although interestingly, on the new Intel 925 chipset, any memory over 3 GIG is used by PCI Express resources!

In other words if you have 3 gig of RAM you have 3 gig to use in Windows.
If you have 4 gig of RAM your system takes up 1.2 (ish) of this before windows even loads.

Anyway, 2.62 GIG of RAM (which is what is left) should be plenty no?

Also tried all optimisations with Page File size, Programs / Backround Services / System Cache etc.

Still getting this "Your system is low on memory are you sure you want to load" message from Battery 2.

Everything else is working fine and in fact we just completed a session today running at 64 ASIO buffers which gave me only 2 - 3Ms latency in SX3.... Stunning.

Sorry for the long post but I thought some of you and hopefully the developers may find it interesting.

The guys at Steinberg are also looking into this apparantly occuring with other NI products (Kontakt etc.).

    Regards,
    Phil.

Makes you wonder what kind of software testing actually occurs prior to release. It's always the user that ends up beta testing. We should charge for it!

    Update (and work around)

Ok after further testing on this, it only seems to happen when Battry 2 is loaded in the FIRST VSTi slot in SX3.

If you load another VSTi synth into slot number 1, then load battery 2 into slot 2 and attempt to load a kit the error doesn't happen.

This could be a Steinberg problem after all?
