That's great to know! Thank you so much for the information.

I am getting more into it now...

Got further clarification from NI chat support on how the registration would work, in case it helps someone to understand the flow.

    Excerpts from the chat:

It can be confusing how 3rd party products sold on NI website are handled, so thought to clarify.

And because of the above, you can get the discounted bundle directly from Output in future depending on whether you buy the bundle or individual instruments.

These are on sale again. I picked up Exhale and Substance and holy crap. These are some of the most powerful virtual instruments I’ve ever used. Has me tempted to get the full bundle eventually.

Indeed. Don't forget Analog Strings and Analog Brass & Winds.

I am glad I got them during the last February sale. Have everything with expansions except the Rev stuff and Portal, which are not really of my interest. Excellent and inspiring products.

How deep is the NKS implementation with Output products? Sometimes with 3rd party developers its lacklustre, to say the least. Good Nks is a huge factor in my purchasing ponderings, nowadays.

I think the integration is as good as NI products, unless you can mention the exact problem you find with other 3rd party developers.

By the way, anyone facing issue with logging to their Output account? It seems like there is some temporary website issue and I am unable to log in.

    Same here.

Some NKS implementations don’t include all the parameters of the instrument, and as soon as you need one of those controls you’re back to reaching for the mouse and opening the plugin window to look for it. Even some of the better plugin developers don’t get this right. Both Arturia and U-he didn’t include all the parameters in their NKS presets for some of their instruments, and in some cases it’s not even possible to create your own template with all the parameters because they are simply inaccessible to Komplete Kontrol (even though you can manually map them with regular MIDI).

Arturia’s CS-80V has numerous unmapped parameters. If you try to add them yourself, you’ll see they do exist in the menu, but they don’t work. I forget which ones off the top of my head, but there are parameters you can add that correctly display the current value (and update when you manually drag the control in the plugin UI), but turning the knob you assigned it to doesn’t do anything.

Repro’s NKS presets left a bunch of the parameters out, and many of them are pretty important ones (well, IMO all the parameters are important; as soon as I have to use the mouse, NKS has failed to achieve its purpose as far as I’m concerned). You can create your own template that adds some of the missing parameters, but some of them are simply not available in the menu. You can map all of them with MIDI so there’s no reason for them to be left out.

NKS is the best attempt to make it easy to have full control over software instruments with a physical controller. Not only can you see the names and values of each parameter, but the control is usually way higher resolution than 7-bit MIDI CCs, so they are in fact higher quality controls.

But the system still needs some work, and I wish NI would require developers to expose ALL the controls, not just a subset. Anything less just fails to live up to the promise of being able to treat software instruments like hardware. In some cases this might be impractical — synths like Diva, Zebra, and OmniSphere have swappable modules that change the instrument, so they need different mappings depending on which modules are selected in a patch. But most instruments have a fixed set of controls (CS-80V and Repro are in this category), and in those cases all of them should be present in every template.

I’ve never used but I keep getting emails from NI about Output :/
Every time I open an NI email that only wants to let me know there is a sale on a third party sound bank I roll my eyes and say “come on really!”
Are they trying to distract us from all the other cool stuff coming out? No update yet so they gotta throw out some bloat emails lol...
Mean while I had to go and purchase MPC One strictly for mute recordings and let me tell you there are some nice features in it and the SWING damn now that’s the REAL stuff!! I think I almost wet my pants the first time I used 16th note at 65%.
So good I also picked up an MPC Touch just for MIDI control.

I'm glad you're enjoying your MPCs but that doesn't have anything to do with this topic.

Personally, I was glad for the sale and to be alerted about it because I'd been eyeing these for a while. They're pretty high quality and the sales are substantial. I frequently stick with NKS stuff because it works great with my gear, so I like knowing when this stuff is on sale. If you don't wish to receive marketing emails from NI, surely you can unsubscribe.

    Can't please everyone, I suppose.

Why would I unsubscribe when we are all still waiting for that email that says they have finally improved the sequencer? Please don’t answer that question.

I'm putting Output up close Spectrasonics. They quality of these instruments are amazing. Arcade is fantastic. Depends on what you are doing though, As I produce rnb/pop/hip hop.

I ended up getting the bundle when it was on sale and really enjoy it. Movement and Portal have added so much to my tracks. It’s a really user friendly way to wrap your head around using LFOs and side chain.

Never could get in to Arcade though. Browsing for sounds/loops just never really felt intuitive to me. I’ve got so many sounds between the Output bundle, K12 UCE, and Arturia V Collection. I’ll make my own loops :)

The problem with Arcade people aren't manipulating them. You can make pads from the one shots, and playable melodies and chords off of these. The effects, and portal allow you to do all this.
Yeah I use to buy everything and have bunch of sounds. I'm sure you will use something from Arcade down the line.
