    Hello,
New Maschine user, longtime MPC user.

On my MPC, I had a certain set up:
kik on pads a2 and a3,
snare on pads a6 and a7
    etc.

All of my custom/homemade mpc1000 programs are already laid out like this, so when I import those, it's fine.

My issue is with internal maschine groups and vsti.

    Example 1:
take 808 fat bloke kit. The kik is on pad a1, however I would like to trigger it from pads a2 and a3. How do I do that? Do I need to use Maschine software as a daw plugin and use the controller as a standalone midi controller? Or can I use Maschine as standalone to make this happen? Once I get this working on one group, I'd like for all groups to trigger the same way.

    Example 2:
I have addictive drums vsti. In the past, I'd load it in my DAW and trigger it from my MPC. pad a2 and a3 would both trigger note#35 (kik), etc, so I was all set. How would I set up Maschine to trigger the sounds in Addictive Drums? Can I do this in standalone mode, or would I skip the Maschine software vsti and just use DAW, addictive drums and Maschine hardware controller?

Thanks for any assitance (and thanks for reading, sorry if my post is long, it's a bit difficult to explain in writing).

    Thank you,
    Jason

The best way i found to swap sounds around is to load the same KIT into group A and group B. Then copy and paste from group A to group B the sound you want. Having a swap function would be ideal for this..

As far as the triggering of other sounds it can be done inside of maschine. You can do it by changing the midi notes attached to the pad. BUT you cannot save these midi settings as a Group you have to save the whole project. Ass backwards if you ask me. This does not allow you to create and import Groups as templates for other gear. You have to think ahead and make one template (project) with all the midi settings for every possible senario.

There is actually a way to do both of what you want. You can swap pads in the software by clicking on the sound slot and dragging up or down to reorder.

A pads root note can be changed in pad mode with the base key parameter. You can even do it by octave in pad mode by using buttons 5&6 above the lcd. The base key assignments can be saved with the group as well as the individual sound.

Changing the root note in my experience (when sound is set to SAMPLER) changes the pitch of the sound being triggered in maschine from an external midi source. When the sound is set to MIDI OUT the root note is the note that it sends out? Sorry not around maschine for a few days had to go to SXSW.

As far as the Input settings: channel, low note and high note cannot be saved to a group only to a project. figured this out while trying to use maschine as a drum processor.

Yes, the sound midi input settings are only stored with the project. For what the OP was wanting that is not relevant though. He just wants to change what note is sent to a VSTi in Maschine when you hit the pad. Also, the base key parameter in pad mode is just for the pads and will not affect what note is triggered by an external keyboard.

If I do that, the whole group (in A) is copied to group B, not sound by sound. The software dosent allow me to drag up or down any sound within a group. Any option?

    Best wishes
