The native instruments online shop says it's due for the end of March, so sit back and relax for a few weeks.

    ciao

    Absynth standalone?

I too am waiting for the PC Absynth version...will/does Absynth function at both Stand Alone and VSTi? How does it compare to Reaktor regarding CPU usage and Disk Overload? Of course, this will be different on the PC, but I would like some idea of what to expect.

    Re: Absynth standalone?

I am using Absynth for Mac since a few weeks and i use it as stand alone and as VST-Plugin in Cubase. It works very fine. The CPU usage is very different and depends from the patch you use. It may be 10% until 40%, but i have had never problems (Mac G4 733, 1,1GB). For Example i used in a Cubase-song two usm (universal-sound-moduls), an Audiofile (drum-sessions) and two instances of absynth (no problem) btw. if you use two instances of absynth you could use only the same soundbank but with 128 sounds.
Absynth sounds very different from other synths. Sometimes long and warm Pads (very very long) but often hard and hardest sounds (Yimmy Hendrix Guitar is absolutly crying and overriding like at Woodstock (sorry i'm just 48 years old)). Normal sounds like church organ are great and with longest echoes (six independent echoes!!).
If you want to get the most out of absynth you must have some pedal-controller, because many sounds are depending on controller (filter etc.). That makes the sound very life. (sorry for bad English, i hope you understand)
I think i have made some appetite ;-)
    Ciao Herw

Thanks, Herw--I certainly plan to get Absynth when it's released for PC--I have heard some of the Demo songs and I agree, there is something different about the sound--modern, or something. I have Reaktor 3 and am doing OK with the demands on my system, so I should be fine with Absynth as well. But, fine is well, never good enough! I always want and need more...a gear junkie!
