When using the controller in keyboard mode it's possible to adust the range of the note values of the pads. Is it in any way possible to set a specific note value per pad?
I am not talking about pitching the samples. I would like this for triggering a VSTs.

No, in keyboard mode it's chromatic

if you have a group spare you can set up midi outs on 15 of the Sound pads and put your VST on the 16th, allowing you to choose the base note for each midi out...

Or just make a MIDI template in MIDI mode.

ni know about this but i don't know where this feature request is located on their beloved 'roadmap', but please make a feature request and add your voice to the choir. if an mpc 500 can do it maschine ought to be able to do it.

Thanks for clarifying it, guys. As I suspected.

muckleberryblim: Is a routing like that even possible? I don't think I know how to do it in that case.

lethal_pizzle: Sure I could do this, but it doesn't really give anything new. I already have other pads I can midi map. It dumbs down maschine quite a bit. What I want is the integrated workflow of maschine. I would like to load something like Battery, and then for each pad go through the note values until it is mapped up like I want.

you can use the method i described but i did forget to mention that you'll need some midi routing outside of maschine (should be available internally really!)

if you have a mac, you can set up an IAC bus in OSX Audio Midi settings, which works beatifully, you'll never know this wasn't natively supported.

Otherwise there is 3rd party software like Midi Yoke or just run a midi cable from Maschine's output to the input.

Once that is done you need to set up the VST to receive the right midi channel in its Sound Midi Settings and voila!

Pad layering and scene change recording can be done in a similar way too. Quite a handy trick.

you can change the octave of the pads by changing the root note of the pad you're on, or you can use buttons 7 and 8 (last two buttons on the top right) when you're in the pad mode screen while in keyboard mode to change the octaves quickly.
