I am trying to get Traktor Pro have as good pitch timing at Serato Itch but I cannot even get close. I move the pitch on my keyboard or controller and it jumps from one click from say 146-150 bpm. This cannot be this big! I want like decimal jumps for manual beatmixing. What is set wrong? Also on the main topic, I do not see any fine pitch controls either like in T3.4:(

Set your pitch fader range lower.
You can do that in the preferences at Transport. Just set it to 8% or 10%.

Thx..solved, but still not small enough increments for fine pitch, but then maybe NI thinks all the Traktor dj world is all hooked on beatgrids and disco is all dead:

You should have in the Midi mappings window an option to select the resolution, this can be set to fine or min.

ranierh's Midi bible is the best source for Traktor Midi info.

try to set in Preference>Midi Mapping under the voice "Type of Controller" the "Relative Fader/Knob" setting, and adjust the rotary sensitivity as you like to set the fader range. i got about +/- 6% with a 40% value.
    hope that's helpful! :)

Why do this rather than using say "analog fader" and a 8% pitch setting ? You think the "relative fader" setting is more precise? I tried it on my VCI-100 and at the center, 0-(middle of the slider) position, the song is already pitched like 2% higher than in "analog fader"..where as in "analog fader" at this setting, it is at normal pitch of the song.

i admit i'm still at the very beginning with traktor pro (i'm still working on a 3.4) and i started today to set it up with the vci (and possibly a nocturn! ;) ).
i found your post because i was searching the same setting (and that was driving me nuts!) and after i found the solution, at least for me. with T3.4 i'm used to set the pitch fader range to 35 and the fader's hotkey as tempo fine pitch.
with this setting i use the fader in combination with the sync to beatmatch more precisely some tracks that aren't correctly synced. in traktor pro the tempo fine pitch hotkey was missing, so after a "while" i found this "relative fader".
before, with the analog fader, the position of the pitch in the vci was the same as shown on the screen, but after changing it to relative i got the fader range starting from the point the pitch was set on the screen. for example, let's say the physical fader is set to 0, and on the screen is set to +2, and you give the fader a range of +/-6, the physical fader will act between -4 and +8.
with the rotary sensitivity you can adjust the precision and the range of the physical fader. lower is the value, more precise is the control, but it also shorts the pitch range. remember that traktor's pitch range is set in another page of the preferences.

i think the problem of the 0 point of the slider it's about the vci, i noticed that too. the 0 lock often gives precision issues, especially if moved quick. maybe there's a kind of latency between the controller and traktor and being that point another midi control. lowering the rotary sensitivity seems getting better tho. btw, never set the 0 point of the vci to reset, if you want to use the relative fader. ;)

    cheers!

right click on the plus-sign and choose a finer range.

what Ive done is different pitch ranges on the fader using modifiers. so that I have +/- 4 in relative mode as normal range and +/- 35 absolute when applying the modifier to adjust when a track has a very different tempo.
