play/filter/fx buttons/knobs unresponsive?

    Apologies, as i am new to integrating new devices/software but i recently got my new s4 in the mail, downloaded all the s4 driver/pro 2 software + ran the installs and for some reason i have no responsiveness out of the play/filter/fx buttons n knobs... i havnt read the manual to get into the meat n potatoes of the entire system with the fx and loop recorder knobs but i DID FOLLOW THE SETUP GUIDE (btw i have an HP Pavilion dv7-1273d entertainment notebook pc) plus ran the updates. Here's the deal, i turn it on, start traktor software, and certain buttons like PLAY dont do ANYTHING as described in the book. The CTRL icon (at the top) on the screen of the Traktor software even lights up with i press it to show it KNOWS that im pressing it but nothing actually happens. Its kinda of hard to describe whats all goin on because i dont know any better but anyone know anything or any reason? thx in advance

    Jus so you know, i've uninstalled/reinstalled everything, updates n all. i still load a track n hit the play button n nothing (for starters)... any ideas? wonderin if its the hardware or my computer somehow
