This was asked before! And solution was, to place instruments on pads an then apply Midichannels. That is not what I am looking for.

Question: I am playing with a friend. He is using a Midi-Masterkeyboard an me Maschine (and a Keyboard).

We are looking for a solution to play different groups at the same time with our different input devices. For example: Me playing drums on a full kit within maschine, second person playing a piano-group or a bass. It is not our goal to record things but only playing several instruments live.

This was asked before. But the answer was always that you have to use "pads" as instruments. Because we want to use effects for the group (rather than the sound) and use the mixer for overall mix the usage of pads for Sounds is not very convenient.

Did we miss something? Is it possible?

    Hello,

this should be easy, of course connect every midi contoller to your computer, enable them under maschine prefs/midi.
Then you have to set the group or pad midi in to the controller you want. Disable focus in prefs/default, set it to none.
Additionally you can set up several groups/pads to the same midi in, but set to a different midi channel.
That way you can select another midi preset on your keyboard where just the midi ch differs, and it will play another instrument
if you want to and if set right.

    Thank you so much!

    The combination has to be:
    1. Focus of (for being able to play with Maschine and another Instrument...) That was very helpful ;-)
    2. Plus the Group Setting. ->
    3. Plus the Pad Setting. I did not expect this one... but it only works if you choose the pad settings in addition

I can now switch Midi Channels on my Arturia Keystep and play different Instruments... and can still play them on Maschine. Perfect.

Not so perfect... the timing of the arpeggiator within the Arturia. It ist only somehow synced to Maschine

Can you set tempo or arp to internal clock on the Arturia hardware?
