    hello!
i upgraded to version 5.5 lately and now have a question concerning the player and recorder section..
still havent found how to use this again, like i did with the old version..
i usually record entire takes or layers with the recorder, i later edit and mix in cubase, also for sketches to remember what i did..
so i need to record rather long wav files..but though the recorder is set to manually start and stop, the wav file i get is always 65 kb large (i stopped the recorder before quitting reaktor)
similiar problem with the player..as there is no longer a input module, i couldnt find a way to play files from there..no sound at all..would be great to get the player into a mixer channel, because i usually use it when i get layers from a friend to work with her recordings while creating my parts..
would be great if someone could help and write me a short to-do list so that everything will work as before
    cheers
    george

HONEST TO GOD I was about to write another thread about this.

I can't seem to make the recorder work!

Can someone explain it to me:

I push the Record Button and the "light" goes red. Then what?
Do I press the play, and THEN starts recording? That only works sometimes.
Only pressing the record button doesn't work.
Pressing the record, than play, then the pause icon, sometimes works....

Argghhhh! I know it is retarded and I should have figured it out, but every time I open Reaktor and try to make this work, I loose ten minutes... Really, would it be so hard to put a "clock" next to it, like in the old version.

How many of us asked for this after the beta of 5.5 came out? How simple it is, and why wasn't/isn't it updated?

great to know, im not the only person who hasnt figured out how to record properly with the new version..
and yes, even if it worked, i would still miss the clock very badly..
lets hope someone knows a solution on the problem..

I use it a lot, works fine, the only thing I would like to see is Length/time readout.

I think you must 'tell it' in the Recorder options how you want to record, for example if I record from MF, or Rachmiels ens (where they play regardless the master ON/OFF) I set it to "Clock start" and "loop length", set to X

Then you click on record on the recorder, it turns red, but it is not recording yet! (master clock is off).

While you listen, if you hear something you like, push Master clock on, and it will record the X number of loops, and you see pause button is ON-(while recording), when it finishes recording only record stays ON, turn Master clock OFF now! (Rec. button stays red/on), you continue listening/recording every time you turn ON/OFF master clock, you make 'loops' one after other. Dont forget to turn REC off when finished recording to listen, (otherwise you record silence).

Most drum machines run from master clock, so it records X loops, and until you turn the recorder button off, you record on the same track loop after loop. To listen, you must turn rec. off.

I didn't experiment more than this, it is sufficient for my needs...
